GA on hold

edit

I have reviewed this article according to the GA criteria and have put the article on hold until the following issues are fixed.

  • "His trademark white Alpine hat became known as a "Bradley hat."[4]" This should probably be moved elsewhere in the article since it isn't mentioned in the article anywhere else.
I've removed this. It was borderline trivia anyway; I just thought it was interesting.
  • "Stockily built with a powerful voice, Bradley's oratorical prowess was unquestioned, and according to some, unmatched." This sentence may be seen as POV, so if it is directly said in the sources make sure to put quotation marks around unquestioned and unmatched.
Although it isn't a quote, I think the sources listed support these claims. However, I have reworded one and removed the other to address any potential POV issues. The text is not damaged in so doing.
  • "the first time being a mere fourteen years of age." Remove mere.
Done.
  • "On July 13, 1867[9]," Inline citations go directly after the punctuation; go through the rest of the article and fix any other occurrences.
I've corrected this oversight, and a quick scan didn't reveal any more.
  • "In 1888, Bradley received 105 votes for Vice-Presidential nominee" Reword to "In 1888, Bradley received 105 votes for the Vice-Presidential nomination"
Done.

Not too many problems here, good work on the article. Please address the above issues within seven days and I'll pass the article. Let me know on my talk page when you are done or if you have any questions and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 01:46, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have passed this article according to the GA criteria. Make sure that the article continues to keep its high quality, ensuring that all new information is properly sourced. If you have the time, please consider reviewing an article or two at GAC to help with the current drive to remove the backlog. Each new reviewer helps to decrease the waiting time for new nominations. Again, good work, and I hope that you continue to improve the quality of articles on Wikipedia! --Nehrams2020 19:20, 30 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

GA reassessment

edit

After reading through the article for GA sweeps, I see no issues that need addressing, so the article will remain a GA. Wizardman 03:20, 16 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Common name

edit

Regarding the move of this page, W. O. Bradley (64%), William O. Bradley (24%), and William Bradley (7%) are the only iterations of Bradley's name that constitute over 5% of references to him on newspapers.com in Kentucky from 1890 to 1920. Per WP:INITS, a written-out name is preferable to simply initials if the written-out version is used by RS. Star Garnet (talk) 21:18, 16 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
