Former finnish SOF soldier and serial entrepreneur Janne Lehtonen

edit

There is a draft for the person in question (Janne Lehtonen).

Janne has served 10+ years in the finnish Navy's special operation forces. He was notably one of the first-ever operator in the unit, along side his fellow collegues of the reality TV programme Erikoisjoukot.

He is also a firefighter, paramedic and serial entrepreneur. I hope someone views this draft of notable Finnish person!

I've also contributed to the draft, by adding more specific information and reformated the text a bit. I think that he's notable enough, as he's literally the first SOF soldier of his country! 2001:999:705:5E4:4811:BCBE:7564:29B7 (talk) 19:58, 10 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
As the Draft was being declined, I added more specific information from his SOF times, including where he worked, and what he has acchieved. I'd say that his career as a soldier plays more important role in the Wiki... 2001:999:705:5E4:1405:1186:D4C:AF17 (talk) 08:27, 11 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Huge updating has been made to the draft article, according to his notability as an special forces operator, but with an upcoming book as well. All the information is referenced well enough as well!
Could somebody review it plz?

Yep, more specific information have been added for now, to make him more notable. For example, he's more specific a Sergeant of the Navy, and that he currently writes a book with WSOY, making him an author as well. There are also a bunch of references to check the information from! 85.76.86.8 (talk) 08:33, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Added info that he has post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD. 2001:999:58C:BDA5:A58D:936B:9E7C:FFED (talk) 10:19, 6 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Request for Review and Input on a New Article about Michelle Valberg

edit

Hello, WikiProject Biography members,

I recently created a draft article about Michelle Valberg, a renowned Canadian nature and wildlife photographer known for her extensive work, especially in the Arctic regions. This article aims to highlight her career, contributions to photography, and her efforts in environmental and philanthropic activities.

As I prepare to move this draft towards a formal review, I am seeking your expertise to ensure that the article meets Wikipedia's standards for accuracy and neutrality and that it adequately covers her significant contributions to the field of photography.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or edits you could provide to help enhance this article. Here is the link to the draft: Draft:Michelle Valberg

Unassessed articles tagged with WikiProject Physics and WP Math

edit

I just started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject_Physics#Biographical importance ratings? and now realize that maybe I should have gone here, instead. Some biographical subject matter expertise is needed, since I don't understand how its supposed to work. Here's the post I put up there:

The physics project template counts the number of articles ranked by importance, and quality. Here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Physics/Quality Control There are currently 700+ articles with unassesed priority (marked "???"). Clicking through, almost all of these are biographies. I suspect that no one particularly wants to tackle this, because of the unpleasantness of tagging someone's biography as "unimportant". That, plus the true difficulty of actually assigning a relative ranking -- you have to be very cross-disciplinary to be able to assess such comparisons. And that's just within physics, never mind something like "my biologist is more important than your physicist" or god help us, "our TV anchor is more notable than your physicist". Thus, I'm wondering if perhaps there might be better to avoid this issue entirely? I'm thinking of allowing the template to have an "importance=biographical" value. Or maybe there is some better way to do this? FWIW, Wikipedia:WikiProject Mathematics has exactly this same issue with unrated articles. (I'll cross-post there shortly.)

Dragan Šolak (businessman)

edit

Hello, I would like to seek editor input on this edit request on the Dragan Šolak (businessman) article and its Money laundering investigations section.

In a discussion with another editor on the Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard I outline how the name of the section is misleading, as it could imply Šolak was investigated for money laundering, which he was not. This section is not about Dragan Šolak directly but rather a media company owned by him and its reporting into Slovenian government misconduct. AlexforUnited (talk) 06:23, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Developing Countries WikiContest

edit

Starting this July, we will see a new contest on the scene - the Developing Countries WikiContest (WP:DCWC)! Think of it as a WikiCup but only for articles and media on developing countries.

Competitors may submit GAs, GTs, FAs, FTs, FLs, FPs, and DYK and ITN entries from/on developing countries to gain points and proceed to further rounds. Points are also awarded to those who review GAs, FAs and FLs.

I encourage everyone here to sign up and compete with editors from around the world to create high-quality content! Many people from developing countries have poorly-written biographies, and this is a great opportunity to improve those articles.

Append your name to the DCWC signup page today!

Best wishes, Wilhelm Tell DCCXLVI (talk to me!/my edits) 17:58, 18 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Where in the article to put citations for archival material by the subject

edit

I came across archival material written by the subject of the Renée Vivien article. I want to include in the article, but am unsure whether to put it under another subsection under Works or in the Further reading section. I am curious how others have handled this & what examples exist.

Here is the citation I plan to use.

  • Vivien, Renée. "3 carnets [3 notebooks]" (b. 1901) [PDF]. Gallica, ID: NAF 26579-26581. Paris: Département des Manuscrits, Bibliothèque nationale de France.

Seeking to improve buZ blurr

edit

Hey folks, since writing BuZ blurr I've made some edits to it and am wondering what else could be improved in order to make it a B-class or Good Article.

Orlando Figes article

edit

There is a content dispute on Talk:Orlando Figes that could use the input of people who know BLP policy! The Orlando Figes#Amazon reviews controversy of 2010 is the subject, with one side preferring to excise it or at least minimise its coverage, and the other thinking that it is relevant content requiring full coverage. There are quite a few policy-based claims that have been made including some that regular BLP-ers might have more insight on like Wikipedia:Who is a low-profile individual.

For extra fun, the subject of the article (Orlando Figes) is also participating! So you can wiki-meet a famous academic if you come along. Samuelshraga (talk) 05:13, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Cleaning up biographical article for Geoffrey von Maltzahn

edit

Hi, I'm Lindy from the Flagship Pioneering communications team, and I've started to look into cleaning up the biography for one of the firm's partners, Geoffrey von Maltzahn. As my User page explains, I have a financial conflict of interest with his Wikipedia article, so I am making requests for editors to review. To begin bringing the page back to Wikipedia standards, removing anything promotional, I've made an initial request for removal of the Awards section. As editors here are familiar with biographies and the standards for them, I hope someone can look at this request and also potentially offer other suggestions for cleanup. POV/length check for NZ historian

edit

The article Erik Olssen has gotten significant contributions from someone who has been in contact with the author and seems to be a big fan. A lot of material has been trimmed, but I'm not sure the remaining material reads neutrally or doesn't have some excess detail. I've read it too many times, and was wondering if anyone with more familiarity with how biographies are supposed to read would be willing to skim it and point out any glaring problems. Thanks! -- Beland (talk) 22:50, 21 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Awards section - table, prose, or list?

edit

The list of awards at Andrew Michael Hurley#Awards is a table. Looking at other articles on authors, almost all I found had the awards as a prose section or a bulleted list, the exception being a table created by the same editor as this one, at Damon Galgut#Awards and honours. A table seems unnecessarily complex. Any thoughts? I have queried the table at Talk:Andrew Michael Hurley#Awards: table or list?, and would welcome input from others.
