Someone put so much time into those tables. However, the receptor table could be organized in a way that conveys more information. It would be great if someone who is more familiar with how tables work could sort the receptor types into metabotropic and ionotrpic. You can find out which ones are which on the wiki pages for each receptor type (note among the receptor types listed as of June 15, 2011, glutamate, Acetylcholine and 5-HT (serotonin), have both metabotropic and ionotropic receptor subtypes.) More information about specific receptors can be found here: http://www.rndsystems.com/molecule_group.aspx?g=682&r=9.

It would also be great if someone could make the neurotransmitters table more relevant to this page by adding information relevant to receptor activity (i.e. 5HT1B ligation inhibits glycinergic signaling, Ang II-mediated AGTR-2 signaling inhibits growth, promotes apoptosis, and induces nitric oxide release, Molecules such as amphetamine both competitively inhibit DA uptake, and induce DA release through the DAT, increasing the rewarding property of DA, etc.) --Xttina.Garnet (talk) 10:03, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

That table has been formatted in a rather non-Wiki way. My guess is that someone started with a table in MS Word and then tried to adapt it. See Help:Table for more common ways of making tables for Wikipedia. If you have an idea for reorganizing the table but are not sure how to format it, my suggestion is to begin drafting it up on this talk page by writing down the text of what should be in each table cell. Use any old convention. When your content is ready and you just need formatting help, either go to WT:MCB to attract some biologists who might take an interest, or post at WP:Editor assistance/Requests. Good luck. I went ahead and transformed the ugly styled html table to a wikitable. This should be now easy for every contributor to add more fields since the markup is really easy. Feel free to add a new {{helpme}} if you need further help! mabdul 11:12, 8 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
