Stubing's dubious distinction
editThe text says "Stubing is the only major league player and manager never to register a hit or a win." I have seen this cited multiple times with the expression "major league at-bat" or "major leaguer with an at-bat". The distinction rules out a player who was called up but never left the bench, a pitcher who never batted, and conceivably someone who came in as a defensive replacement or pinch runner or even someone who reached on an error, hit by pitch, walk, but never had a plate appearance that was an at-bat. Does anyone know if the distinction is necessary? Is there someone else who managed without a win, and was on a MLB roster but never batted? Randall Bart Talk 20:09, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
