I found the sentence "Later Henkin generalized this result to a variant of Church's higher-order logic" misleading, since according to Henkin himself in the Bulletin of Symbolic Logic, June 1996, The discovery of my completeness proofs, pages 127 -- 158, he -first- discovered his proof for Higher-Order Logic, and -then- specialised it to first-order logic. 82.182.115.209 21:34, 8 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are right. This should be changed. 86.144.179.237 (talk) 11:43, 6 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

This is just from a personal conversation with Leon Henkin ... but perhaps someone else could find online an actual quote from him, corroborating this, if anyone thinks it is important. (Leon was my first-year Calculus professor at Cal and yes, his teaching was just as memorably clear as everyone says. Much later in his life we became personal friends, and this remark was from a conversation we had.)

He said that he was looking around the Math office one day and realized that there was no one there except white males; and that something was wrong with that; and that it was his obligation to try to do something about it.

P.S. At his memorial one of his colleagues described him as "a real mensch."
