Overall: That is definitely an interesting hook. It's cited, the article is neutral and doesn't seem to have any problems with copyvio. There's some similar phrasing but that's mostly for place names and charges, which can't really be rephrased. Nice job! The only problems are with sourcing. The birth date doesn't seem to have a source, if you're calculating using age at death, the sources with his age should be used. The sources about his interest in Niagara only state that he was interested in it for years, not that it began in childhood so that should be rephrased. BuySomeApples (talk) 01:45, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- @BuySomeApples: the very first sentence of footnote 3, which is sourced in the "Early life" section, says
Kirk Jones, 40, of Canton, Michigan
. But good spot on the "since childhood" thing, I'll reword that. QueenofHearts 01:50, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- I don't know how I missed that! Thank you for rephrasing the age. Once that's done this should be ready. BuySomeApples (talk) 01:53, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- @BuySomeApples: Done, changed "since childhood" to "for many years". QueenofHearts 01:58, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- Awesome! This nom looks ready then. I'm leaning towards ALT0 because technically it's unclear whether he had the snake with him, but both are good imo since they can be sourced. BuySomeApples (talk) 02:02, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- @BuySomeApples and Queen of Hearts: In the article, I do not understand this sentence "... leaving behind a note in Krueger's car telling his family and friends to move along alongside the remaining 30 dollars." It would also be nice to have more about the man, right now the entire article is about his stunts rather than biography. I do like ALT0. Bruxton (talk) 23:31, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Bruxton: I copyedited that sentence so it's a little easier to parse. I agree that it would be nice to add more info about him if it can be sourced. BuySomeApples (talk) 02:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks BSA for the copyedit. I personally don't think this is a super pressing issue for just DYK, but I'll see what I can do later today. QueenofHearts 05:52, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Queen of Hearts which source specifies that the "large inflatable ball" was intended as safety equipment? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 22:30, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- @AirshipJungleman29: yeah, I guess that is OR. In which case:
- ALT0a: ... that Kirk Raymond Jones became the first person to survive going over Niagara Falls without safety equipment, then died going over it again in an inflatable ball? Source: O'Brien, John (June 15, 2017). "Kirk Jones, who survived historic Niagara Falls plunge, dies in return 14 years later". The Post-Standard. Retrieved December 14, 2023.
- PS. I totally forgot about this, so thanks for the nudge. QueenofHearts 23:15, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Sources - some may be duplicative
edit- @Queen of Hearts and BuySomeApples: I was trying to scare up details about the person's biography. Also his birth year which I think we can definitively state was 1963 edit: or not.
- Find a Grave is on our list of unreliable sources but in this case there is an image of his headstone showing he was born in 1963. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery (Niagara Falls, New York). Since we have trouble using that source here is an article with a photo of the headstone showing his birth year: I archived it to get past the paywall. Reading further I see that his friends say he was born in 62. Body was unclaimed at the morgue for four months. Might be some useful info in there. Bruxton (talk) 23:17, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Here are a few other articles
- Times Herald.
- The Kingston Whig-Standard
- The Pantagraph
- Many articles are AP so they are just reprints. I think this article will do well on DYK, but my only concern was our article lacked information about the person.
Bruxton (talk) 16:38, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for finding these sources. I've been busy with real life, but I'll add info from these sources. QueenofHearts 01:14, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
- Nice work @Bruxton: this will definitely improve the article. It would be kinda bleak if it didn't have anything about who he was as a person. BuySomeApples (talk) 04:16, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
