UCF

edit

for some reason the idiots at ESPN seem to think he went to Central Florida — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.25.74.93 (talk) 06:40, 15 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Nickname

edit

A cursory Google search seems to reveal that the nickname was not commonly used to refer to the player in sources, and all sources containing the nickname say that it is a childhood nickname, which does not seem to me to warrant adding it to the player's full name in the article. For this reason I have removed it for now. M. Caecilius (talk) 05:56, 10 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

2015 Pro Bowl

edit

Demaryius Thomas was named as an alternate to the 2015 Pro Bowl and would have attended if he were not playing the Super Bowl. Because he declined to play because he was in the Super Bowl, the NFL retroactively awarded him 2015 Pro Bowl honors in 2016. See links below:

Death Rumors

edit

There have been some rumors passed around about his death that have not been confirmed by any news outlets. If it has been confirmed, please edit accordingly. Jacksonisamazin (talk) 04:20, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Does https://sportsnaut.com/demaryius-thomas-dead-at-33 help? Apparently https://twitter.com/MilesGarrettTV/status/1469157148668092423 is a fairly big deal (no clue when it comes to sportsball I'm afraid) -- TNT (talk • she/they) 04:27, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
No tweet or article sourced to tweets, by Allbright or anyone else, is a reliable source for declaring someone dead. Period. Wait until a respected media source reports it, sourced to something other than this same set of tweets (i.e., a family or NFL statement). General Ization Talk 04:29, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
We've (sadly) got a reputable source. Denver local news now reporting it as confirmed. The Kip (talk) 04:37, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
We have a reputable outlet. However, if you click on the links to their sources, they're the same two tweets. I still say we should wait until major publishers verify the facts. SI, for example, still has nothing. General Ization Talk 04:42, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Death was confirmed by his High School Position coach. It’s not a news source but it’s a close source. Klacket (talk) 04:32, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Confirmed by whom, to whom and published where? We rely on reliable, published sources, not "someone who knew him said it's true." General Ization Talk 04:51, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

TMZ has some more details on his death, but I'll leave the link here first before adding it to the article. Maybe this helps.https://www.tmz.com/2021/12/09/ex-nfl-star-demaryius-thomas-dead-denver-broncos/ Dannyyankee12let's talk 04:55, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Bleacher Report reporting now. Yes, also from a tweet, but when there's a large multitude of reporters/news orgs that have confirmed via Twitter, we can't just keep acting like "Twitter = bad." The Kip (talk) 05:17, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Given "a family member told Mike Klis of 9News in Denver on Thursday", that report is no longer solely sourced to a tweet. And yes, often, "Twitter = bad" when it comes to factual matters and especially declaring someone dead. General Ization Talk 05:21, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
The family member report is sourced from a tweet of Klis. It doesn't matter now anyways, as the Denver Post has confirmed it.The Kip (talk) 05:25, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
there are 2 conflicting reports one says he was found dead at his home and the other is saying he died following a traffic collision. 2600:1700:BE01:EB30:716F:9D93:2887:42A (talk) 05:50, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
The reports are saying that he died at his home due to medical complications as a result of a past car accident. There is no conflict there. Zander251 (talk) 05:56, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
The report is that his death was caused by medical complications arising from injuries he received in an automobile accident in 2019. General Ization Talk 06:18, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Information regarding his 2019 car crash

edit

No detailed information is given regarding his 2019 car crash. What injuries did he sustain & how they were treated. Did he play any other games after his accident? 2601:280:5A81:3C90:4107:DDE5:D9E9:7DC (talk) 09:23, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Source 194 makes no mention of the car accident contributing to his death. Source 195 contains speculative information from an “NFL insider” on the cause of death. Cause of death has not been confirmed by medical professionals. I am cautious to believe any report from the NFL, redirecting any cause of death to off-the-field activities at this moment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:14A:701:400:F0D8:FCCE:37D8:DBF (talk) 14:50, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

All we know for sure as of December 10. 2021 is that his family says he died of a medical issue. He had been unwell for a while and his symptoms were consistent with a brain injury. That could have happened in a car crash, but that also could have happened while playing football, and we know he had a long career and was hit many times. Timothy Horrigan (talk) 17:57, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
"He died from medical complications that stemmed from a vehicle crash that occurred in 2019 according to Benjamin Allbright of KOA in Denver."[1] That's pretty explicit. If you doubt the reliability of that report, it should be attributed inline to Allbright as was done at the source. General Ization Talk 18:06, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please change from between the "Death" and "references" add an "In memoriam" Section showing a picture of the number "88" painted onto the Broncos' field. Please use a reliable source. PingingA (talk) 15:52, 13 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
