Talk:Colin Kapp

This article gives his year of birth as 1928, while Ansible 245 gives it as 1929. I'm changing the article to reflect this. -- Arwel (talk) 23:34, 5 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

'Derek Ivor'

edit

I've seen some sites claim his full name was "Derek Ivor Colin Kapp". This seems unlikely for the reason of what the initials would spell out, and I suspect it of being a joke someone has made at some point which others repeated out of ignorance. Is there any way to confirm this was not his name, or if in the unlikely case that it is, does it mention it in a reliable source anywhere. -Say the 'about the author' section of one of his books for instance.219.88.68.195 (talk) 22:31, 1 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

It is not a joke. His name is recorded as Derek I.C. Kapp in the transcription for the register of quarter ending June 1928 for Southwark (Volume 1d page 99) [1]]. Similar information regarding his parents, siblings, and marriage can also be found using popular (and free) online sources such as the freebmd and familysearch websites.
I was unhappy with the confusing way in which his name was shown in the article, so I've edited it accordingly.Twistlethrop (talk) 01:16, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
