May 2005

edit

I replaced the paragraph that got deleted about Daniels' sexual orientation. It's certainly information about Daniels, and is not at all pov or inflammatory. It's interesting info, esp. the part about how he's discussed C3PO in this context. Daniels doesn't "make an issue" of it, so let's not us too. It's information, and doesn't need to be deleted. Maybe some references? But it doesn't need to be deleted.

I'm going to delete it again. I'm sure his girlfriend would be interested to know of his gayness. Do you have a reference for it? KayEss | talk 05:19, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. --Staecker 12:48, 23 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
I can back KayEss up on this one. I've known Tony and his girlfriend for many years. He is not homophobic, but he is heterosexual. I also am not sure what the article means about political activity. I'll have to ask him about it, or perhaps better, get him to contribute to the article. --Dumbo1 17:58, 26 May 2005 (UTC)Reply
It's generally frowned upon for people to contribute to articles about themselves. Best if we ask him and write it up. I also am not sure about the political thing. KayEss | talk 06:04, 27 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

I vaguely recall Daniels releasing a CD of his readings of the his Wonder Column. If anyone can track this down, they should add it to the article.

You're so lucky to know Anthony Daniels. I'm a big fan and have met him twice!

This article contradicts itself. In the first paragraph, it says he did not appear in Episode III. In the closing paragraph, it says he does. Anyone know which one is true?

He was in all 6 films.

Examiner article

edit

Can we please post a link to the Examiner article which quotes Kenny Baker? The "feuding" part is making me a bit uncomfortable without some citation. It seems quite POV if there is none. The only places that seem to corroborate this assertion are two sites that have either lifted this article verbatim or from which this article was plagiarized; can't tell which came first. I tried to get rid of it and it was reverted. ChrisStansfield 17:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Only Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker in all 6 movies?

edit

It is stated in the first paragraph that Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker are the only actors that have acted in all six Star Wars movies. However, as far as I know, Ian McDiarmid acted as Darth Sidious in all six movies. I've watched the trilogy and the prequel trilogy and the actor acting the Emperor is definitely Ian McDiarmid. If I am wrong, can someone clear this out? --Tekin 18:58, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

He's not in episode IV. Staecker 23:48, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, he is the only one to appear in all 6. Kenny Baker was only in 5, they used a completely remote-control R2 in episode 3.71.79.154.118 (talk) 02:39, 19 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ian McDiarmid was not in the original release of Empire Strikes Back, either, though he does appear in post-2004 releases. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.58.92.13 (talk) 16:31, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Daniels has been politically active in the United Kingdom, but he has kept his politics and his professional life completely separate.

edit

Can someone substantiate this please. Otherwise I will delete it, as it is in the "facts" section, but isn't sourced. I've known Anthony personally for many years and I don't know what this is supposed to be referring to.

Since you say that you personally know him, perhaps you can tell us if he is as stuck up as people say he is. 173.86.63.107 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:07, 12 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Additional work

edit

Obviously Mr. Daniels is best known for his work within the Star Wars franchise, but I should hope some people familiar with his complete background could include additional information about his education and work history. Perhaps his work in theatre (and/or in pantomime?). His interests or activities. And with reliable third party sources.

This article is supposed to be about the person, not just the person as it relates to one very popular fictional character and his popularity as such. Let's have more respect for this person.--SidP (talk) 12:16, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

School

edit

As I understand it he went to Giggleswick, a public school. I have no first hand knowledge of this though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.40.249.231 (talk) 21:25, 23 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Tense of role

edit

Since he has never really stopped playing C-3P0 in any significant appearance of the character, including several recent and upcoming projects, I think the article header should be changed to he "plays" instead of "played". Frohike14 (talk) 00:35, 27 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Marriage(s)

edit

Reference number 9 - the one linked from the "Personal Life" subhead (this one - "Picture - Anthony Daniels and his then partner (now wife) Christine work=Contact Music". 22 Nov 2009. Retrieved 11 May 2013.) - currently connects through to a 22 November 2009 photograph captioned "Anthony Daniels and his wife Agnes Daniels New York City, USA - Opening night of 'Dreamgirls' held at The Apollo Theater - Arrivals", rather than to anything to do with his (current?) wife Christine Savage. Perhaps the "Personal Life" section could be expanded to include details of his (former?) wife Agnes? As it stands it only mentions a son from a "previous relationship". The Disney Wiki page shows Agnes as his wife.Thomas Peardew (talk) 16:24, 4 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Controversies section

edit

I have removed the recently added "Controversies" section on WP:BLP grounds. Almost all of this material is a synthesis of the sources constructed to paint Daniels in a negative light. The section claims that Daniels's statements were false, and/or resulted in "controversies" and "outcries", but this isn't what most of the individual sources say. The sources do quote Daniels, but it's the editorializing in this article which asserts that the statements are false or controversial. (From perusing the article history, I see this isn't the first time this material has been added and then removed.) —Psychonaut (talk) 12:57, 7 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Performace in “Phantom Menace”…?

edit

The article says: “In Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, he wore a blue Spandex costume so that during editing of the movie his body could be turned into many different wires and circuits.” This seems to be original research, perhaps based on a misunderstanding of the process used. The stripped down “see-right-through” Threepio used in TPM was performed using a full scale puppet, not a costume; Mr. Daniels wasn’t inside it, he was usually behind it. Initially it was to be operated by other puppeteers, to whom the puppet would be attached by rods and harness, so that it moved in front of them and duplicated their movements; Daniels suggested that he be taught the controls and that he would operate the puppet, to give it his characteristic performance. He and any other operators involved did wear spandex bodysuits in process colours, but so that they could be removed from the backgrounds, not from the interior of the puppet.
