Brennan was part of the 2012 Olympic Qualifying team that finished sixth.[6] In June 2012, she was one of twelve Australian gymnasts vying to earn a final spot on the Olympic squad at a training session for the national team at the Australian Institute of Sport.[9][10] At the same time, she was one of three Australian female gymnasts who were confirmed to be going to the Games alongside Lauren Mitchell and Emily Little.[11] She represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics in women's artistic gymnastics,[4][5][6][7][12] and was selected to compete in the women's team event.[12] Her Olympic training preparations included learning how to deal with flash photography with strobe lighting used at practice and being exposed to distracting noises.[7][13]
