Location and General Description of Property

The property of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Terminal Company of St. Louis, herein called the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Terminal, consists of yard tracks and freight terminal facilities at St. Louis, Mo.

Introductory

The Missouri, Kansas & Texas Terminal is a corporation of the State of Missouri, having its principal office at St. Louis, Mo. It is controlled by the Katy through ownership of its entire outstanding capital stock, except nine shares held by directors. On the other hand, the records do not indicate that this company controls any common-carrier corporation.

The property of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Terminal was operated by the Katy or its receiver from date of completion to March 3, 1916. From March 3, 1916, to December 31, 1917, it was operated under lease by the receiver of the Katy and from January 1, 1918, to date of valuation it has been operated by the United States Railroad Administration.

Corporate History

The Missouri, Kansas & Texas Terminal was incorporated March 26, 1909, under the general laws of the State of Missouri, for the purpose of constructing and maintaining a union station for passengers, or freight depots, or both, in or near St. Louis, Mo.

Development of Fixed Physical Property

The Katy acquired certain land for account of this company prior to its incorporation and construction was started immediately thereafter. The property was completed and opened for operation July 1, 1911.

Leased Railway Property

The entire property of the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Terminal is leased to the Katy for an indefinite period from March 3, 1916. The terms of the lease and the rental accrued for the year ending December 31, 1917, are given in the chapter on leased railway property in the report on the Katy.
