WikiProject National Railway Museum has been put in place to support a likely GLAM collaboration with the NRM. Notes for a forthcoming 22 June meeting provide background. Through May and up to 22 June 2011, the project is mainly concerned with arranging the meeting, and putting in place a project framework to support anticipated future work.
The project's initial scope and objectives, which have a high dependency on the NRM's intentions and capacity, will start to become clear from 22 June.
- Project related tasks
- List yourself as a Participant in the NRM project.
- Find and assess the quality of articles related to the NRM by adding the {{WikiProject National Railway Museum}} banner to the article's talk page. The {{WikiProject National Railway Museum}} provides fuller instructions on how to use the template to add details of quality and importance (typically, one will add something like {{WikiProject National Railway Museum|class=B|importance=Mid}}
- Stubs: Improve a stub-class article; or improve a start-class article. Or, indeed, improve any of the articles linked from the quality assessment table
- Start a new article
- List missing articles at the foot of this page
- Undertake a peer review of an article by adding to the article's talk page, typically under a section heading such as Peer Review==
- Make additional task suggestions to this page.
- Thoughts from 22 June meeting
- Produce a list of missing articles - list the titles of articles you think should exist - artists, objects, themes, &c
- Provide pointers to the wider corpus of railway related articles already on wikipedia, which might be improved by NRM input
- Encourage NRM curators to undertake peer review of existing articles - cf. Talk:Lindow_Man#Peer_review_by_British_Museum_curator
- Organise a backstage event of some sort - cf. Backstage Pass page. Potential interesting collection areas we could organise tours / talks around:

- J.P. Richards Railway Model Collection
- Islay Shipwreck Collection

- Get existing NRM volunteers interested & enthused about contributing to wikipedia - provide a training event for NRM volunteers
- Articles that will be added to Assessment by Mark Green
- Classes. (So far I've added on the basis that classes should be added to NRM Project when we have the only, or one of few, preserved locos in that class. Might be worth expanding to ALL the classes we have in Collection?). I'm asking a curator to rate these for importance, then I'll add them to the matrix 10:41, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- Locos
- Others
- more to come...
