Censorship on Wikipedia

edit

Re. your edit to Internet pornography‎ and your comment on Image talk:Porn-site.jpg: Read the following pages: Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, the section "Wikipedia is not censored" and Wikipedia:Profanity. If you had read the Image talk:Porn-site.jpg page before you posted your comment there, you would have already seen this information. You're new to Wikipedia, so it's to be expected that you don't know all the rules yet. Please recognize this fact, and don't assume that you know rules when you don't. "This is a minor edit" checkbox

edit

Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. RedSpruce (talk) 15:49, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Protection

edit

It is incorrect to add protection templates without protecting a page. Your account does not have administrator privileges, so you are unable to set protection. The template alone has no effect. Thanks. Superm401 - Talk 23:30, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Zapato Belgian Rene Magritte.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Zapato Belgian Rene Magritte.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:53, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Thanks for uploading File:New Earth Time Clock.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 02:14, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

edit

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 16:53, 15 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help me! (Time/Date userboxes)

edit

I need help regarding to make the userboxes (User:Ryansworld100000/CurrentTime User:Ryansworld100000/CurrentDate) I made regarding time to make it customizable to be set to a user's timezone, have his/her hometown and to adjust for DST.

Ryan (talk) 05:50, 30 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

You'll want to take a look at the examples at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Time. Adjusting the time for the user's timezone is easy, but DST will be difficult. Apparently User:Thayts/Userboxes/DST in user time zone does that trick; you'll want to check it out. Modifying the date according to the user's time zone and DST will then require the same methods, with a little more effort to account for leap days and whatnot. Huon (talk) 13:17, 30 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. I'll look into that. Ryan (talk) 23:06, 30 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited French Republican Calendar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Julian Day (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
