  Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Royal Variety Performance  with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 11:11, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Oshwah, Many thanks for your comments concerning the Royal Variety Performance page. The sections that we deleted were very in-accurate so we replaced them with accurate wording and correct information. For your information, we work officially for the Royal Variety Performance and the Royal Variety Charity in an official capacity, so the information that we substituted is 100% accurate. We are however, new to Wikipedia, so we now understand the importance of doing many references, so we have started again and included loads of references. We have deleted, for now, everything that we have added without references, so we hope this is now ok? Please let us know if not, as we want to make the page as informative and as accurate as possible. Looking forward to your advice. Many thanks ----Rodeocowboy36 (talk) 21:07, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm sorry that I had to drop it back to one of the earlier versions, but what you had been adding failed a large number of our guidelines. We have a WP:Manual of Style which articles are supposed to follow, and there were many, many breaches in your version. Perhaps if you spent your initial Wiki time making yourself familiar with those guidelines, you will find life to be much easier and more profitable. There is also the Teamroom (see the first thread on this page) which is a great place to ask others questions on how to approach things or what formatting to use in what circumstances. They are always delighted to be able to help. Cheers – SchroCat (talk) 20:42, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

  Hello Rodeocowboy36, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:20, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Royal Variety Charity, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. == Hi I'm sorry for causing any confusion and for there being belief of a potential COI. There isn't. I am not employed by anyone and am not connected with or work for any employee of the Royal Variety Charity. I am simply a supporter of this charity - amongst many others. I would love to see this charity, including its senior management represented better on Wikipedia and also other charities and their management represented better. I have no other motive and I'm sorry for misleading anyone or betraying myself as anything different. I work alone, love Wiki and all it stands for and just want to learn the procedures better and create great content. Apologies again and really hope this is now all clear. Thank and please keep up your great work any connection ==

  Hello, Rodeocowboy36. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:Giles Richard Cooper, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Worldbruce (talk) 17:41, 14 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, Rodeocowboy36, but I just can't see how to reconcile this denial with your earlier statement here (timestamped 06:44, 14 April 2016 (UTC)) that "we work on the admin team for the royal variety charity and the royal variety performance and have done major overhauls of the wiki pages for both these". Who are "we"? Please understand that Wikipedia accounts are for individual, not shared, use. You say that you work on the admin team of the charity, and then the next day you tell us that you are "… not employed by anyone and [are] not connected with or work for any employee of the Royal Variety Charity". Forgive me, but I can't see any way in which both of those statements can be compatible. Would you be kind enough to tell us which is the truth? Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Giles Richard Cooper

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Giles Richard Cooper requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.royalvarietycharity.org/home/welcome/giles-cooper-biog/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Giles Richard Cooper

edit

A tag has been placed on Draft:Giles Richard Cooper requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

G13, Kind of. It hasn't been abandoned for 6 moths, but the article was previously moved to the article space via copy/paste and has been updated considerably there.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
