Speedy deletion nomination of January 2010 month

edit

A tag has been placed on January 2010 month requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Intellectual?

edit

The User page states the following "Rastko Pocesta, a 12-year old intellectual, political scientist, human, political, civil and minority rights activist. Supports green politics and animal welfare. Social democrat and social liberal. Respects work of Leonard Trelawny Hobhouse and is inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.".

I'm sorry, but how exactly has it been determined that this person is an "intellectual"? Has he won any competitions in his home country? Created any significant work of art/science? Was he involved in any significant events during his (short) life? Judging from his comments on pages regarding Ph.D. Vojislav Kostunica and his Democratic Party of Serbia he is quite far from being able to give himself the title of "intellectual". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.86.146.11 (talk) 18:04, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

In what field, please?! Give me link to the "politics or human rights competition", and I bet i'll win it! Hey, man, I wrote a book and I was declared wunderkind, child prodigy, genius by the dutch, german and british newspapers, among the most important public persons in my home country called me intellectual! --Rastko Pocesta (talk) 18:45, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry, but your flawed arguments ("most important public persons in my home country called me intellectual" <-- who are you referring to?; "I was declared wunderkind, child prodigy, genius by the dutch, german and british newspapers," <-- gives further insight in your undeveloped understanding of regular sensationalism present in every day press;) your vandalism behavior (as suggested by a recent act of vandalism you committed on The Hangman page as well as a number of attempts to initiate an argument in talk pages regarding Ph.D. Vojislav Kostunica and Democratic Party of Serbia suggests that you are far from an intellectual, which is completely normal, since you're, as it seems, a 12 year old. Wikipedia does not exist for self-promotion or promotion of whatever kind of work you're pursing. This page does not belong here, because you are clearly not a person of any kind of significance whatsoever and are using this page to promote your agenda as well as to create tension on pages regarding any party that does not share your POV (as demonstrated by the links above).

[bolded and quoted are your very words, copied in their integral versions]

This post has, thus, demonstrated that you are far from what you consider yourself to be (overconfidence and holding yourself in high esteem is normal for a 12 year old and is a result of thier ambition to direct attention from others to themselves). I will not use this page for further arguments, as I regard Wikipedia as a source of knowledge, not a medium for arguments. Wikipedia is probably the last place you should go to if you're looking for attention. If you have (and it seems you clearly do) have those kinds of intentions, direct your browser to facebook or myspace. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.86.146.11 (talk) 21:17, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are the last person which is deciding about what will be written on my user page.   Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to International response to the 2010 Polish Air Force Tu-154 crash, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. --OpenFuture (talk) 07:02, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

My friend, I am on Wikipedia since March 2009 and have a lot of experience on this field. I made many, many constructive edits on various languages in Wikipedia, and I am human rights activist in RL. However, I still don't get it, why Wikipedia shall have a limit on listing the full international response, which consists of the condolences, too. Thank you.--Rastko Pocesta (talk) 09:50, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

So why don't you read the discussions that has been about this, where multiple times the conclusion has been that there should *not* be a list of condolences? The arguments are there, and yet you just revert, multiple times. That you are a supposed genius and have been on Wikipedia for a long time is not arguments for you to break policy without arguments and engage in reverts even when you have gotten explanations. In fact, you should behave more responsibly and better because of these reasons. You claim to be an intellectual and have experience with Wikipedia. Good: Now show it.
But since you seem to not be interested in actually reading the arguments and engaging in discussion, here are the arguments against making the article into a condolence book: Condolences are expressed at a major accident isn't in itself WP:NOTABLE, nor WP:ENCYCLOPEDIC, etc. That list obviously is an example of WP:INDISCRIMINATE collection of information. It would in fact be more notable if a country did *not* express their condolences. The only arguments for keeping them so far has been WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS and arguments for making Wikipedia into a condolence book, which it isn't. And even the argument that other stuff exists is highly doubtful. Most other articles about international responses to events do *not* include long lists of condolences. See Mjroots list of examples: International response to Hurricane Katrina, Reactions to the September 11 attacks, Reaction to the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Humanitarian response to the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake, Michael Jackson memorial service. It's probably WP:RECENTISM as well, as exactly who formulated their condolences in exactly what way definitely isn't anything anybody will be interested in in the future. And what about countries that are missing from that list? Did Andorra not send condolences? Bahrain? Uganda? Do we anywhere have a source for what countries sent condolences? If not, then this is suspiciously close to WP:OR. In short, there is no reason to keep it at all, and it breaks many of Wikipedias policies.
Does this make it clearer? --OpenFuture (talk) 10:38, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't say I am genius, nor I use my experience on Wikipedia as an argument, but it is fact that you don't have a consensus: I don't agree, because I think that it is Wikipedia's duty to collect as many informations as possible. List of condolences will only make the article better. --Rastko Pocesta (talk) 11:00, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, you are wrong, this is *not* Wikipedia's duty. In fact, policy explicitly explains that it is not. See WP:INDISCRIMINATE. If you want to change Wikipedia policy, start a process to do so. --OpenFuture (talk) 11:11, 24 June 2010 (UTC)Reply
Zanima me sledeće:
  • Gde mogu nabaviti tvoje knjige

Ovo me zanima, čisto da razmenimo mišljnja. 1. Moja prva i za sada jedina objavljena knjiga "Hall of presidents" nije u prodaji, to je moja odluka (nisam zadovoljan knjigom).

2. Ne uskoro. Verovatno u decembru/januaru.

3. Nisam istoričar, ne bavim se takvim temama.

7. Pročitaj tačku 5.

--Rastko Pocesta (talk) 12:32, 27 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Bravo. U suštini sam zadovoljan odgovorima kojima sam dobio. Ali opet imam nešto da pitam:

  • ,,ne zanima me naša „slavna” prošlost, zanima me naša BUDUĆNOST!¨, zašto ?

You are listed in the Category:Wikipedians interested in sociology, probably due to the use of "This user is interested in sociology" userbox, but you have not added yourself to our official member list for WikiProject Sociology. Wiki Loves Pride 2014

edit

Hi RP. In case you are not aware, there is an upcoming campaign to improve coverage of LGBT-related topics on Wikipedia, culminating with an international edit-a-thon on June 21. See Wiki Loves Pride 2014 for more information. If you are interested, you might consider creating a page for a major city (or cities!) near you, with a list of LGBT-related articles that need to be created or improved. This would be a tremendous help to Wikipedia and coverage of LGBT culture and history. Thanks for your consideration, and please let me know if you have any questions! --Another Believer (Talk) 16:56, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride!

  • What? Wiki Loves Pride, a campaign to document and photograph LGBT culture and history, including pride events
  • When? June 2015
  • How can you help?
1.) Create or improve LGBT-related articles and showcase the results of your work here
2.) Upload photographs or other media related to LGBT culture and history, including pride events, and add images to relevant Wikipedia articles; feel free to create a subpage with a gallery of your images (see examples from last year)
3.) Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Or, view or update the current list of Tasks. This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. Visit the group's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. Remember, Wiki Loves Pride is about creating and improving LGBT-related content at Wikimedia projects, and content should have a neutral point of view. One does not need to identify as LGBT or any other gender or sexual minority to participate. This campaign is about adding accurate, reliable information to Wikipedia, plain and simple, and all are welcome!

If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's main talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing!

As a participant of WikiProject LGBT studies, you are invited to participate in the third annual Wiki Loves Pride campaign, which runs through the month of June. The purpose of the campaign is to create and improve content related to LGBT culture and history. How can you help?

  1. Create or improve LGBT-related Wikipedia pages and showcase the results of your work here
  2. Document local LGBT culture and history by taking pictures at pride events and uploading your images to Wikimedia Commons
  3. Contribute to an LGBT-related task force at another Wikimedia project (Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikivoyage, etc.)

Looking for topics? The Tasks page, which you are welcome to update, offers some ideas and wanted articles.

This campaign is supported by the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, an officially recognized affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation. The group's mission is to develop LGBT-related content across all Wikimedia projects, in all languages. Visit the affiliate's page at Meta-Wiki for more information, or follow Wikimedia LGBT+ on Facebook. If you have any questions, please leave a message on the campaign's talk page.

Thanks, and happy editing! ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:41, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Contests

edit

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:36, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
