Speedy deletion nomination of Mathews Taapopi Hamutenya

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mathews Taapopi Hamutenya requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. -- samtar talk or stalk 19:44, 24 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Mathews Taapopi Hamutenya

edit

Hello Natangwe.Namando,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mathews Taapopi Hamutenya for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. R. A. Simmons Talk 13:31, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The tone is much too promotional, with glowing words like seasoned, focused, visionary, successes, inspirational... Read WP:PEACOCK. Those are opinions, and have no place in Wikipedia unless they are cited to a reliable source independent of Mr Hamutenya. Read WP:Verifiability and whenever you are about to write a glowing adjective, or indeed any claim, imagine a hostile critic looking over your shoulder saying: "Who says so? Can you prove it?" Put right out of your mind any idea that you are writing for your subject, or trying to "sell" him, because that is the quickest way to speedy deletion as an advertisement. You should be writing for Wikipedia about your subject from outside - a neutral description, plain facts cited to reliable sources.
It could do with more references. Wikipedia's WP:Notability test looks for references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject," see also WP:Notability (summary). The first reference is his company, the second an associated company - they are good for verification but not independent and so less good for notability. I do not see his name in the third reference.
When you have improved the article, I suggest that rather than post it directly, which might result in deletion, you click the green "Submit" button which will send it for review by an experienced user, who will either accept it or give you feedback. JohnCD (talk) 14:56, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
