Orphaned non-free media (Image:Airbus A380-900.gif)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Airbus A380-900.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Airline users

edit

Pleas stop adding users to airliners, such as the 787 and A350, which are not in service yet, as this goes against the current guidelines of WP:AIR. Also, it would be nice if you would lean to use the edit summary key so that you can make corrections BEFORE saving your edits, and it makes it easier for others to follow your changes. Thanks. - BillCJ (talk) 21:08, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Airbus A380-900.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Airbus A380-900.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. -MBK004 21:07, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.-Carados (talk) 04:14, 19 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Image:Lower Manhattan-Jamaica JFK Transportation Project.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

A free substitute of this map could be made fairly easily by anyone with appropriate software. There is nothing compelling the usage of this particular image. Thus, the fair-use rationale is invalid.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:Lower Manhattan-Jamaica JFK Transportation Project.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Larry V (talk | e-mail) 07:06, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Lower Manhattan-Jamaica JFK Transportation Project.jpg

edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Lower Manhattan-Jamaica JFK Transportation Project.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Haemo (talk) 09:53, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use images

edit

I may seek preventive measure if further copyright violations are uploaded. I think you are familiar with this routine by now. Kelvinc (talk) 22:42, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

PS: "As of now There are no other replacements on the internet" is really not enough. If you want a photo of Cannonsville Reservoir, for example, you should go there and take a photo, or ask someone who has done so to release a photo under a free license. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ijji.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ijji.png.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:23, 24 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
