Unspecified source for Image:JP_Manoux.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:JP_Manoux.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:16, 1 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 01:16, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blocked temporarily while we sort something out

edit

This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because the username, Jpmanoux, matches the name of a well-known, living person.

If you are the person represented by this username, please note that the practice of blocking such usernames is to protect you from being impersonated, not to discourage you from editing Wikipedia. You are welcome to continue to edit under this username, but we ask the following:

  1. Please be willing and able to prove your identity to Wikipedia.
  2. Please send an e-mail to info-en wikimedia.org. Be aware that the volunteer response team that handles e-mail is indeed operated entirely by volunteers, and the reply may not be immediate.

If you are not the person represented by this username, you are welcome to choose a new username (see below).

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive, or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Jayron32 18:47, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Please don't be offended by this block. It isn't necessarily because you have done something wrong (unless you are impersonating J. P. Manoux). If you really are J. P. Manoux, please email the above adress so we can sort this out. We really want to protect you in case someone is impersonating you, which is why we want to make sure you verify your identity with us. Thank you for understanding here. --Jayron32 18:47, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Not offended. Definitely frustrated. Thank you for looking out for my... privacy interests, I guess. Now, what? I am J.P. MANOUX, which is not the same thing (at least to me) as J. P. MANOUX... but, I gave up trying to correct that mistake on this site years ago. I have no problems updating facts about the productions with which I am associated on IMDB. How do I become a trusted contributor to Wikipedia? Email what "above address"? I don't see one clearly. I am, however, looking at multiple pages of misdirected reprimand. But, I understand... this is to protect the real me.  :)

Ooof.

If you e-mail info-enwikimedia.org, someone there will be able to sort it out for you. ItsZippy (talkcontributions) 19:07, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) Sure. I understand the frustration, but if this HADN'T been you, wouldn't you be equally frustrated that some fool was running around Wikipedia pretending to be you? The email address is in the orange box, but it's info-en wikimedia.org If you send an email to that address, someone will be along as soon as feasible to sort this out. --Jayron32 19:08, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Gotcha. And now the mac server isn't working for me, so I can't even send an email. Would you be kind enough to please forward this to... the editor?

Please forgive snarky Grandpa. Can someone just call me?

Also, I REEEEEALLY would like to get that space removed, if possible. The one between the first . and the P in "J.P." Thanks!

Hey J.P. Since you say you're having trouble with the email address, I've gone and emailed it on your behalf, with your phone number. I have no idea if that is within protocol or not, but hopefully someone will call soon to sort this out. --Jayron32 19:22, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
The space between the J and the P is nothing personal, lol. It's just the Wikipedia Manual of Style. AJ Burnett is listed as A. J. Burnett for the same reason. --Jprg1966 (talk) 19:23, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks.

A full day later, and I'm still blocked? With no expiration date on this completely random assignment of Wikiprobation? Was there another person claiming to be me, who complained about my more accurate post? Do I have impersonators here? I can't get verified on Twitter, but this drama is borderline validating. If and when I ever do become unblocked, will I have the power to block anyone else I choose to?

J.P.

Sorry, I'll try and get some additional eyes on this. I would have thought this would have been taken care of already. The reason why the account is blocked is because the name is that of a well-known person and they want to confirm your identity before unblocking it. Did you contact OTRS yet? Its a simple matter of 'I am who I say I am' then they unblock, the rule may seem silly, but its to prevent a John Smith from acting as say 'Stephen Hawking' or anybody else. My name is fine simply because I'm a nobody, but you are a somebody it matters. Though even if you are unblocked, you won't be able to block anyone personally unless you are an admin. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 16:03, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Now trying to get one of my agents or my personal manager to send an email on my behalf... from an address that some user here may, or may not, decide is legitimate....

I'm currently speaking to someone on IRC, I'm trying to fix this for you. I'm sorry about this; I'm not in a position to fix this myself, but I'm trying to go through the proper channels. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 16:11, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

No sweat. Thanks!

I'm going to try an get an oversighter to remove that phone number. This phone number is personal and I don't want a bunch of random people calling you (or seeing the number in the future) to ask you a bunch of dumb questions. I don't think it would be proper to call you either, but since almost everyone is a volunteer on Wikipedia responses are slow. I've been involved in addressing several other cases of things like this. It is frustrating to no end, and our policies are seemingly stupid, but if you have concerns about your article or anything else, let me know. Its the least I can do while I try to sort this mess out. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 16:17, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
I've asked an oversighter. They don't remove it if they are giving it out to the world, but if you wish it to be removed it can be, or after this mess is cleaned up. I hope this mess isn't ruining your day or anything. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 16:24, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
I've added some sources to your bio article, twelve or so at current count thanks to Questia and Highbeam research, I'd like to source the rest of the movies and such. It needs more work for sure, but I found that you wrote a stage musical, that's cool. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 17:08, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Sadly, I keep getting the 'contact' OTRS response, have you done so yet? Have they replied? ChrisGualtieri (talk) 20:21, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I sent an email to info-en@wikimedia.org. Is that what you mean when you say, "contact OTRS"? Please DO remove my phone number! That's was provided only for you, an editor, or whoever else might be able to help straighten this mess out.

The OTRS ticket has been replied to :). It doesn't allow for an immediate unblock, I'm afraid, but we are making progress. Ironholds (talk) 22:05, 28 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
I'll contact an oversighter to have the number removed. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 15:00, 29 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Still blocked. In WikiPrison for no reason. #FreeBradleyManning

Not really; as I've told you, we have emailed you explaining how to get unblocked. Ironholds (talk) 19:59, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hold on. I did what was requested. Sent an email to info-en@wikimedia.org. Nothing.

What else do you recommend, Ironholds?

We literally received one email a few minutes ago (ticket 2012100110009313) - was there other correspondence? Please be patient. Apologies for the inconvenience. Rjd0060 (talk) 20:13, 1 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

And I do realize that YOU are not the one who randomly blocked me. Never got an answer before... When this is all straightened out, will I have the power to block, without expiration date, other users that I feel are impostors, or just jerks?

Request reason:

Hi, I'm J.P. Manoux. For some reason, Wiki-people suddenly think otherwise. I can answer any and all questions that only J.P. Manoux would know. I also look exactly like J.P. Manoux without the awkwardness of actually having to be Jim Rash.

Accept reason:

We've received confirmation from your agent via OTRS Ticket:2012100110009313 that confirms that you are who you say you are. I apologize for the inconvenience that has been caused. I've unblocked your account. I hope that you can understand that this process is designed to protect individuals. Rjd0060 (talk) 01:40, 2 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Balloons by Jpmanoux.JPG

The file File:Balloons by Jpmanoux.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

orphaned file, no foreseeable use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
