Can you please not alert me of a PROD, image or article deletion again, I barely visit this site nowadays let alone have time to waste on trying to save articles that deletionists have made up their mind aren't notable anyway. Thankyou.† Encyclopædius 17:01, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you today for Mount Takahe, "about a volcano in Marie Byrd Land, and one of the (relatively) best studied of the edifices there. It is not currently active and almost entirely covered with ice and snow, but deposits of volcanic ash from Mount Takahe have been found in ice cores and suggest that it was very active during the latest Pleistocene and early Holocene." - I still celebrate Beethoven's 250 years on my talk ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:27, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

DYK for Fumarole mineral

On 31 December 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Fumarole mineral, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that volcanic fumaroles deposit more than 240 distinct, rare fumarole minerals (examples pictured)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Fumarole mineral. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Fumarole mineral), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Greetings, Sonofstar. It's salted because this discussion determined that despite folks continually recreating it it doesn't meet Wikipedia's inclusion rules, namely the one linked at WP:GNG. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:28, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Possibly living people

Hi, are you not supposed to add anyone at all who disappeared mysteriously or was kidnapped to that list or just certain people? There are some people who went missing on the list and I need to know if they should be kept. I did add some as well, but I will remove them if you tell me that they don't belong there. Davidgoodheart (talk) 15:28, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, but I don't know anything about that category. The instructions on the category page, though, say that missing persons should not be there so I think that "disappeared mysteriously or was kidnapped" wouldn't belong. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 17:17, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey Jo-Jo. I noticed that you deleted this article a few years ago following an AFD discussion. Is it okay if you recreate it as a draft in my userspace? I'm planning to work on it with the goal of a more suitable article being written, perhaps later on being brought to DRV to see if there's consensus to recreate it. Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:46, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Sure. I don't know anything about the subject beyond noting that folks in the AFD didn't think it meets WP:N guidelines. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:52, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. Is it okay if you restore it at User:Narutolovehinata5/Jill Harris? Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:58, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Pacific Meridional Mode

Hello:

A quick question. Partway through this article which I'm working on for the GOCE contributors started to list the year an author made a claim. e.g. "According to Wu et al. (2009), the decreased evaporation..." I have not come across this before and have been putting the years in brackets. I thought I'd check with you if this is okay. Perhaps you can point me in the MOS where this is discussed?

Many thanks,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 22:30, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Greetings, Twofingered Typist Honestly I am not sure on this. The main reason why I've done so is because these claims are basically primary claims which haven't had much if any follow-up discussion yet but were published by authoritative sources and thus can't simply be ignored. I think WP:INTEXT discusses this kind of in-line sourcing. I'll see if Femkemilene has thoughts on how to present such findings. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:23, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
I don't know enough about the topic, but if you have reason to believe it's a fact, and not a scientific assessment, it's better to leave out the author from the sentence to avoid presenting facts as opinions. When in doubt, you can always send authors a quick email; most scientists are really happy when their work is read outside of their bubble. Femke Nijsse (talk) 10:33, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
Jo-Jo Eumerus WP:INTEXT doesn't cover this directly. I think I'll continue to put the years in brackets otherwise the article will end up with dozens of sentences like "So-and-so suggested in 2019 that..." Twofingered Typist (talk) 14:01, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
Seems OK. I'll see at WP:GAN and perhaps WT:FAC about whether there is a better presentation. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 10:52, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

(Talk page watcher comments welcome) Note to self

Been wondering if [12][13][14] are enough to make this often-cited photo of the 2019–20 Australian bushfire season notable under WP:GNG terms. There are other passing mentions in this Google hit list. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 11:43, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
