Project News
  • Arena Football League only infoboxes have been created and need to be added to ALL AFL players. This infobox is for active AFL players only. However, this one is for players who retired from the AFL and NOT another league.
  • Infoboxes are currently being worked on for af2.
  • A few new templates have been created and added to the appropriate articels, however if you have ideas for a template leave them here.
  • The assessment function has been added and the count is over 300 articles at the moment.
  • Articles for the more popular and "star" players of the league need to be expanded, have citations added to them and hopefully we can get some GA's out of them.
  • All articles on active players and coaches need to be updated with stats, news, and all things important. (Note: For stats it's best to use ArenaFan.)
  • Also, we NEED to get things done so we can take them off of the to do list.

Chicago Bears seasons at WP:FLRC

You are one of the leading editors of Chicago Bears. Chicago Bears seasons has been listed at Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/Chicago Bears seasons for removal from the set of featured lists under the WP:FLRC procedures. I am not sure who to turn to, but the original WP:FLC nominator is unable to save the article. I hope you will consider responding to the discussion page issues and save the list.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:02, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Ravens-Steelers rivalry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Heading reminder

Hey Alazakam, when you're adding headings (like "Regular season results") make sure you follow WP:MOS and make the heading "Regular season results," not "Regular Season Results." Thanks. Pats1 T/C 20:24, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of AIFL Ghostchasers

I have nominated AIFL Ghostchasers, an article you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/AIFL Ghostchasers. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Guy (Help!) 22:21, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Minor edits

I noticed, because of your edit to the Houston Texans article, that you are marking all of your edits as minor when, in fact, most of them are not. You might want to go to your preferences settings and, under the “Editing” tab, disable the “Mark all edits as minor by default” checkbox. Thanks —Travistalk 17:15, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

2008 Patriots season article

Hey, thanks for your efforts there. I can handle the game info part (like the attendance, weather, etc.) before the game if you want; I want to keep things consistent and your version is slightly different than mine. So if you could just skip over the Pats when you add those skeletons, that would be great. Thanks. Pats1 T/C 20:02, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Like I said, please just leave what is already on this article alone. It follows WP:MOS more closely, and your efforts to change it just means more work on my end to get it back in compliance with WP:MOS. Pats1 T/C 12:03, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Please, either use the standard formatting for 2008 New England Patriots season game info (i.e. p.m. instead of PM, no links for the second instances of channels or announcers, no linking of EST after the first instance, etc.) or just don't add them and let me do it. Pats1 T/C 14:57, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Troy Brown

I've heard he might be close to making a statement, but is there a source yet saying that he has officially retired? Also, don't forget to use edit summaries. Cheers. youngamerican (wtf?) 13:38, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

2008 Miami Dolphins season

I'm not sure if if it's you or User:Bocafan76 as both of you have heavily edited this article recently, but the game summaries need to be written in a much more appropriate tone. They should never be called the "Fins" and things like "Ronnie Brown had a field day" and "The Fins splashed first" have no place on the article. This is an encyclopedia, and the article needs to stick to the facts and remain neutral.►Chris NelsonHolla! 23:20, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

So you're just going to ignore this?►Chris NelsonHolla! 06:43, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

October 2008

Please remember to mark your edits as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. —Travistalk 23:36, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Scoring summaries

You do not have to add a road or home total to the summaries, the template automatically adds them up. I see you have been warned about this once already, I would appreciate it if you would stop doing so. Thanks. Blackngold29 03:07, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Again, you do not need to add totals. There is no reason for it and it takes up article space. Please stop. Blackngold29 20:30, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
This is the final time I am going to warn you about adding totals. If you continue to do so I will seek intervention from admins. Perhaps you don't understand the concept of the template, I advise you to check it out. Thank you. Blackngold29 04:24, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Detroit Lions game log

Hey I noticed you've been doing the game logs on 2008 Detroit Lions season and I think you do a good job but you haven't the one for the Redskins game yet. Did you give up on the Lions already? If not, I posted the recap to get you started. Go Lions! TomCat4680 (talk) 04:45, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

2008 Washington Redskins season

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. One of the core policies of Wikipedia is that articles should always be written from a neutral point of view. Please remember to observe our core policies. Thank you.

Please use the appropriate tone when creating game summaries. This includes abstaining from using peacock words or other phrases which compromise the neutrality of the article. The Redskins should never be referred to as the "'Skins". Do not use idiomatic phrases such as "drew first blood" or "nailing a 42-yard field goal". This denigrates the quality of the encyclopedia. Please do not copy and paste the same phrases and structure from previous game summaries. I've noticed that several other users have had concerns about the tone and wording of your football articles. Your work on Wikipedia is appreciated but please keep this in mind for future edits.

Also, a game summary was created earlier today for the Steelers game. Later in the afternoon, you overwrote the entire game summary. The new summary contains some slightly inappropriate tone. There are idiomatic phrases which should be avoided such as "Byron Leftwich... to go to work" and "his streak of 249 pass attempts snapped" (emphasis added). The old summary seems a bit more neutral in tone and more encyclopedic. Was there a reason you overwrote it?
206.233.95.18 (talk) 21:17, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
I will just revert things back if no one minds.
206.233.95.18 (talk) 19:50, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Hey Alakazam, I merged the two game summaries. I think you had more information on certain things, and the old summary had more information for other things. I took the more informative sections of both and put them into one summary. I also removed inappropriately toned words, idiomatic statements, and similar phrases from other summaries out of this one. I hope this is ok. I think as this is a wiki, we should work collaboratively. Please do not completely overwrite other people's work when it follows Wikipedia's writing guidelines.
206.233.95.18 (talk) 14:46, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
Alakazam, again, please watch the tone of your edits on the Redskins articles. I am referring to your recently added Dallas game summary. Do not refer to the Redskins as "the 'Skins". Do not use idiomatic phrases such as "the 'Skins struck first" or "shut their offense down". This is an encyclopedia, not a fan site. Also, please respond to your talk page. At the very least try to avoid phrases and words that several users have already mentioned are un-encyclopedic for your new edits.
206.233.95.18 (talk) 14:12, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Please do not remove section cleanup messages if the section was not cleaned up and still contains phrases and words that violate Wikipedia's writing guidelines. Please respond to your talk page if you want to discuss this. If you do not respond in a timely manner I will add the cleanup notice back - unless someone fixes the NPOV violations.
206.233.95.18 (talk) 19:22, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Again, please do not remove section cleanup messages if the section was not cleaned up. Terms such as the "'Skins" and "struck first" should not be used on articles. Is there a reason why you continue to use these terms?

  • Also, we NEED to get things done so we can take them off of the to do list.

-New-

  • Standardized roster templates have been created for ALL AFL teams.
  • New tables have been added to each team article for coaches. It is broken down into six columns. Column one is for the name of the head coach. Column two is for the coachs tenure there. Column three is the coaches regular season win/loss record (ONLY while with THAT team). Column four is for the coaches post season win/loss record (ONLY while with THAT team). Column five is for the coaches most recent coaching staff (if the coach is no longer there, list the coaches last coaching staff), with years that the coaching staff members have been there, the term coaching staff ONLY applies to Offensive Coordinator (to be listed as OC), Defensive Coordinator (to be listed as DC), Special Teams Coordinator (to be listed as ST Coordinator), Fullbacks coach (to be listed as FB coach), Linebackers Coach (to be listed as LB coach), Offensive line coach (to be listed as OL coach), Defensive line coach (to be listed as DL), Wide receivers Coach (to be listed as WR coach), Defensive backs Coach (to be listed as DB coach). And coach that coaches multiple positions is to be listed as QB / FB coach, with a / between each position. Also, the list should start with Offensive Coordinator, then Defensive Coordinator. Place line break (<br>) after each coaching staff members name, and between coaching positions (should the column become wider than what looks good). Column six is for notes about the head coach during their tenure with that team only. Lastly, be sure not to make the columns too wide, if the column becomes wider than what looks good, place a line break (<br>) in the sentence/note.

2008 Detroit Lions season game summaries

Hey I was reading your summaries on 2008 Detroit Lions season and here's some tips.:

  • Stick to 1 verb tense. You constantly go from the present tense (getting, nailing, etc.) to past tense (nailed, got, etc.) and back. I suggest you stick to the past tense, since the game you're describing is already over.
  • Use MORE verbs. Instead of only saying "got a..." use more verbs like "completed a...", "scored on a...", "ran in a...", "threw a...", etc. It makes the article more interesting. "Got" is a bad verb anyway, use one that describes the action that was performed better, such as those I just listed.
  • Proofread your summaries for typos or spelling errors.

GO Lions!

2008 Patriots

Please read my comments in an earlier section on your user talk page (this thing). Please stop linking Gillette Stadium and Foxboro in every single game; that is over-linking, just the first instance is needed, so please stop doing it for every single game. All Patriots season articles use the weather as a comma, not in parentheses, so please stop adding those. And that weather is OFFICIAL from the NFL gamebook, so please do not change it. This is the third time I've told you this. Thanks. Pats1 T/C 11:57, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

And please use proper tone when writing on Wikipedia. Things like "the Jets got the last laugh" is NOT encyclopedic and is NOT acceptable writing for Wikipedia. And, please read and respond to posts on your talk page. Not doing so is considered to be a bit uncivil. Pats1 T/C 12:01, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Sorry Pats, this guy won't listen. I've asked him to stop referring to the Dolphins as "the Fins" on the Dolphins' season article and to stop writing in a manner that is not appropriate, but he just ignores my messages. Can someone be banned from contributing in a certain area? Sure would be useful.►Chris NelsonHolla! 16:59, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Chrisjnelson. Alakazam continues writing inappropriately-toned material on the Redskins season article. This talk page itself is evidence that several users have problems with his tone for numerous articles - going back over the course of several years. The main problem is not just the tone, but he/she seems unwilling to listen or change; persistently violating writing guidelines. 206.233.95.18 (talk) 18:26, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to delete every summary from the 2008 Dolphins article since you can't take a hint.►Chris NelsonHolla! 03:44, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

What's The Deal?

I don't get it. How come my way of typing NFL articles works for most of the other articles, but not for the Miami Dolphins? What, are the Dolphins using some other informing format that I'm not aware of? Does having a perfect season means that my writing format will ruin their legacy or something? I'm just trying to tell others how the scoring came to be. I'm not dissing the Dolphins in any way, shape, or form. If there's some other way to tell how their score came to be, then let me know so that this doesn't keep happening.

Please respond to my comments as well (I left a bunch on the section on your talk page called "2008 Washington Redskins season". I would really appreciate it if you stuck to a neutral point of view on your Redskins game summaries. Specifically, please stop using the term "the 'Skins". It is un-encyclopedic, and it infers a bias towards the Redskins. Also try to stay away from colloquial phrases such as "the 'Skins struck first". This is also un-encyclopedic and degrades the quality of the article. Thanks. 206.233.95.18 (talk) 19:00, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Because I'm concerned enough to take a stand against your crap summaries. Perhaps if you engaged in discussion with the thousands of people trying to talk to you here, you might get somewhere.►Chris NelsonHolla! 19:43, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Please stop ignoring warnings and please start engaging in dialogue. Ignoring other users' requests, not paying close attention to your talk page, and not heeding advice is not acceptable behavior on Wikipedia and will only dig you a deeper hole here. So, you have been blocked again. You may want to start to organize your user page and user talk page in some sort of what where other users can communicate efficiently with you. Also, you should also start to use edit summaries in your edits for other editors know what you are doing. If an editor reverts your edit, then you may want to engage in a dialogue with that editor by posting on his or her talk page. But first, the key is to READ edit summaries, and to READ your talk page. And when you respond to this block, do not make comments like you did before ("does having a perfect season..."), because those can be considered uncivil and not in the spirit of the code of conduct here. If you don't, then you will not be able to be a functioning member of Wikipedia. Thank you again. Pats1 T/C 20:36, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
