Thoric

edit

(From the Germanic name Theodoric meaning "Great Leader", from which the name Derek — my name — is derived).

Originally a name from a (now lost) short story I wrote in high school, I used the name as a handle to play MUDs in college, and kept it when I started my own MUD -- Realms of Despair (a SMAUG MUD). Hence Thoric is the god that created the game.

When I originally was conceiving the name, it was a cross of Thorin and Yorick. It wasn't until a couple years ago that I realized it works rather well as a derivative of Theodoric.

Pages I've contributed to (ones which I have started are bold):

Derek Snider, born on October 31st, 1972, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is a computer programmer, game designer, drug researcher, and armchair political activist.

"Why do programmers always mix up Halloween and Christmas? Because Oct 31 equals Dec 25."
