My background

edit

I grew up in British Guiana, then Guyana in the 1960s and 1970s. I attended Queens College from 1970 to 1975. I moved to England in 1975 for two years of school, studying for my "A" levels, at the Royal Masonic School for Boys in Bushey.

I then moved to Ontario, Canada in 1977 to attend the University of Guelph, and have lived in Guelph since then. I have involved myself in local issues, and am a member of the Guelph Civic League.

I am a database manager, responsible for a student information system, in a school board.

I have been a radio deejay on CFRU-FM since 1979, hosting The Crooked Beat, a Reggae program, as Nicky Dread, since 1981.

I have been involved in the Hillside Community Festival since the early 1990s as a stagehand, Board member and MC.

My Wikipedia interests include the wildlife, geography, culture and communities of Guyana, the Caribbean, Reggae, and tropical weather. I am also interested in archaeology and palaeontology in the Neotropics.

My stamp collection focuses on the British West Indies, from the first stamps to the end of the 20th century.
