This user is a jodoka.

I was born 8th of Feb. 1979, Uppsala

My interests are History, philosophy, languages and of course Jodo. I have earlier entered a few articles under my non-registered "nick": 217.209.24.157. NOTE. I switched ISP a long time ago and now I use a very different IP. So if you see any new changes on wikipedia made by the above IP, its not me. :)

I used to study Ki-Aikido under Kenjiro Yoshigasaki organisation Ki no Kenkyukai Association Internationale but had to leave because of a back injury recieved during training. The injury, which wasnt a permanent thing, did heal up after 6 months but by then I had switched to Jodo due to practical reasons.

As of Jan 2005, I've started with Shintô Musô Ryû Jô (Jodo) and Muso Shinden Ryu (Iaido)...well actually its seitei-iai for the moment, but Muso Shinden Ryu will follow later. :)

My goal on Wikipedia is not to do anything earthshattering but rather contribute what I can within certain subjects I'm reasonable knowledgeable about. Rest of the time here I will spend learning.

New stuff

edit

The Shinto muso ryu article and sub-articles is progressing nicely. For almost 1½ years I was alone in editing but now I have the help of two japanese lingophiles who among other things have added kanji, translations and some good photos. The info-box I originallk created has been turned into a template by bradford44 and its spread like a wildfire among the koryu-articles.

As of now I have no other major commitment other than the SMR-article and especially the History of SMR sub-article. I'm fiddling with the Koryu related articles, fixing & minor adding on a regular basis but still nothing nearly as big as the SMR-article. I've decided to lay off the Iaido article, Muso Shinden-ryu article and Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu articles for the time being. The reason for this is that I have not nearly enough knowledge about the three systems to be effective in anything other than cleanup & stuff.

I have some ambitions besides SMR-article(s) when I have time. I have SOME good material on Tatsumi-ryu which I think will be enough to push the quality level up a few notches. I would also like to start an expansion of the Itto-ryu article and do some major cleanup & restructoring.

All this I will do when I find the time between practice, work and real-life stuff. Wish me luck. Fred26 06:07, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Ambition

edit

(Update 2006-12-30) Decided to add what I would like to do in wikipedia. As of right now I feel like expanding Muso Shinden-ryu and has made it an ambition. I'll post any new ones here and will remove it once I've actually completed an "objective" ^^

  • Obj. nr.1: Expand Muso Shinden-ryu article
  • Obj. nr.2: Expand Shinto Muso-ryu article. - Expansion well under way.
  • Obj. nr.3: Expand Shimizu Takaji article. - Update is on its way
  • Obj. nr.4: Expand Pascal Krieger article. - Created re-direct to SMR.
  • Obj. nr 5: Create&expand European Jodo Federation article. - On hold for now
  • Obj. nr 6: Modify Jojutsu-article. There are plenty jojutsu outside SMR. - On hold for now
  • Obj. nr 7: Create and possibly expand Seitei-iai and Seitei-jo articles.

New articles&contribution

edit

The experiement is well underway and I have been getting at least one positive comment about it. And the fact that they are still in place where I put them is also a good sign. But of course, they can always improve. I havent a list of which articles have boxes but I'll create one here soon. The last one I created was for Tendo-ryu bujutsu. Fred26 22:17, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

-- I've started to experiment with putting up Info-boxes for Koryu martial arts. In short, the box contains the Name of hte ryu, Kanji, what type of arts are taught (kenjutsu, battojutsu etc etc), founder(s) birth/death-date, date founded, current headmaster and so on. I was inspired, (dramatic word), to do this from the www.koryu.com website and its "ryu guide" with its short, precise info-burst on individual Ryu.

Here is an example of how the box for the Shinto muso-ryu section looks:

Koryu 古流 Martial Art
Shinto Muso-ryu Jodo - 神道夢想流杖道
Founder
Muso Gonnosuke Katsuyoshi 夢想權之助勝吉
Foundation date
Early Edo period Between 1603-1630
No appointed headmaster. 25th and last (unofficial) headmaster was Shimizu Takaji Menkyo holders teach Shinto Muso-ryu Jodo all over the world.
Arts taught in the Shinto Muso-ryu system
Japanese name Description Ryu name
Jojutsu 杖術 jo, Odachi, Kodachi Staff(stick) art used against a swordsman Shinto Muso-ryu Jojutsu
Kenjutsu 剣術 - odachi, kodachi, nito. Sword art - Long and short sword, sometimes used in tandem Kasumi Shinto-ryu Kenjutsu
Tanjojutsu Walking-stick art Uchida-ryu Tanjojutsu
Kusarigamajutsu Chain and sickle art Isshin-ryu kusarigamajutsu
Hojojutsu - 捕縄術 Rope-tying art Ittatsu-ryu Hojojutsu
Juttejutsu - Jutte, Tessen Truncheon art - Truncheon, war-fan. Ikkaku-ryu juttejutsu

-- As of yet, this is still an experiment and I'm sure there are prolly better versions of the info-box just waiting to be created. :) Fred26 14:54, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

-- Ach! Long time no see. I'm right now trying to reduce the size of the Shinto Muso ryu article by splitting it into seperate sections. The first one so far is Shinto Muso-ryu Jodo Kata. My hope is to be able to add more information on Shimizu Sensei's "time in office". :) Fred26 18:09, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

-- And yet more info added to SMR-article. I've also started a seitei jodo article which will be expanded when I find the time. Fred26 08:49, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

-- I've added more bones to the Shinto Muso-ryu "skeleton" as to demonstrate how the more or less final entry will be. Fred26 10:00, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

-- Today I added a stub-entry for Pascal Krieger, who is a headman in the European Jodo Federation. I'll be adding more info at best opportunity. I will also be expanding on Shimizu as soon as I can get my sources in order. The main Shinto Muso-ryu article will be exanded beyond the "history and Evolution.." section into the modern system.

-- I have migraine now..major suckage! Fred26 15:08, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

-- Phew..have done a major addition on the Shinto Muso-ryu article. Basically I added the Kuroda-period of SMR and I'm approaching the modern-period which I'll add later. Fred26 10:20, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

-- After some research I've started with adding new material to the Shinto Muso-ryu article. I've added some background information as to explain the "setting" of Shinto Muso-ryu in Gonnosukes days. Also added a bit about the jo itself with mentionings of Morihei Ueshiba as a patron of the Jo. (not in so many words though). I will be adding more later on. Fred26 10:20, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

-- Did some reediting of Muso Gonnosuke. Will try to add some more general info on the Shinto Muso-ryu article. Fred26 11:22, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

-- I've done some more stubs and general contributions on the below topics. In the weeks ahead I will be adding some more information on the main Shinto Muso-ryu, including information on all the schools that is integrated with Shinto Muso-ryu. I've created a stub for Isshin-ryu kusarigamajutsu for instance which is generally practiced by Shinto Muso-ryu. Also added a category link to Donn F. Draeger, a noted jodoka, and I will try to fill out with more famous jodokai biographies up ahead. Fred26 08:00, 27 October 2005 (UTC)

-- Phew! I got on a high horse and decided to put in a couple of new categories as well as a few new more Shinto Muso-ryu related articles. Yesterday I also added an entry for Uchida Ryu Tanjojutsu, the art of handling the tanjo which is featured in Shinto Muso-ryu. The complete Shinto Muso-ryu category is as follows.

At least thats all for now until I manage to dig up some more information. Fred26 07:34, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

-- I've just finished adding stubs for aikidoka Kenjiro Yoshigasaki and his ki-aikido organisation of Ki no Kenkyukai Association Internationale. Again I felt that he deserved a mentioning. Since I do not know very much about Yoshigasaki sensei, indeed he doesn't even appear to have an official site, the bio-article will not be expanded..not by me anyways. :) Fred26 10:29, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

-- A few new articles are on their way up. I decided to get rolling with entries for all the martial arts, (or elements of martial arts), in Shinto Muso-ryu. The latter will also be expanded when I got enough info. Fred26 08:35, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

-- I decided to put in an entry for Muso Gonnosuke, the founder of Shinto Muso-ryu, as I think he deserves a mentioning. That I train the above mentioned martial art is an obviously completly unrelated issue. The article is now up and running.

Also, a few days ago I put in another biographical entry, this time for the Aikidoka Shizuo Imaizumi, thus finishing the stub I put in last year. Fred26 12:49, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
