What I do on Wikipedia
editI am a WikiGnome, so I spend much of my time on Wikipedia patrolling the encyclopedia in all sorts of ways (I'm a huge fan of Special:Random), though I did create 4 articles. I also enjoy helping out novice Wikipedians.
Things I like to spend some time doing around here include:
- Adding references to articles
- Fixing citations formatting
- Reviewing new pages
- Reviewing articles for creation
- Reviewing pending changes
- Participating in AfD discussions, doing NAC closes and relists
- Doing some random page patrol
- Helping out new users on Wikipedia's help channel, or through the mentorship program
- Fighting vandalism, mostly with the use of AntiVandal
- Adding infoboxes to articles
- Reviewing good articles

It was said by the model Mandy Rice-Davies (pictured) while giving evidence at the 1963 trial of Stephen Ward, who had been accused of living off money paid to Rice-Davies and her friend Christine Keeler for sex: part of the larger Profumo affair. While being cross-examined Rice-Davies was told that Lord Astor, who owned the Cliveden estate on which Ward rented a cottage, had denied an affair with her; she replied: "Well he would, wouldn't he?" Political, communications and psychological experts have interpreted it as a phrase which indicates the speaker believes a person is making a self-interested, obvious or irrelevant denial. They have also stated it functions as a retort to mistruths made by public figures. Linguistically, it has been noted for its use of the modal verb would to create rhetorical effect. The phrase has been included in The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations since 1979. (Full article...)

Fumarole minerals are minerals that are deposited by fumarole exhalations. They form when gases and compounds desublimate or precipitate out of condensates, forming mineral deposits. They are mostly associated with volcanoes (as volcanic sublimate or fumarolic sublimate), following deposition from volcanic gas during an eruption or discharge from a volcanic vent or fumarole, but have been encountered on burning coal deposits as well. They can be black or multicoloured and are often unstable upon exposure to the atmosphere. This natural-color photomicrograph of fumarole minerals from Mutnovsky, a volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia, was taken using a scanning electron microscope. Yellow and red crystals of thallium(I) iodide are visible, with a gradual transition between the two polymorphs. The crystals are located on a substrate of altered rock.
