In 1982 the first international office was opened in Johannesburg.[1] The company then expanded globally and in 2018 operated from 125 offices in 48 countries.[3]

In July 2021, the US commercial real estate group CBRE paid £960 million for a 60% stake in Turner & Townsend,[4][5] helping it expand its international network. In June 2024, CBRE announced plans to merge its project management businesses into Turner & Townsend, creating a $3 billion business employing over 2,000 staff in 60 countries.[6] CBRE will also increase its T&T ownership stake to 70%;[6] Vincent Clancy, Turner & Townsend’s chairman and CEO (who joined the company in 1989, and had been on the Executive Board since 2002),[7] would join the CBRE main board.[6]
