Template talk:Infobox Canadian Parliament

More parameters to prevent recentism

edit

IMO the infobox should include images for both the earliest and most recent seating arrangements, and the parliamentarians section should likewise include both the earliest and most recent statistics. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 04:28, 17 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Coat of Arms

edit

Could we add the coat of arms of the province/territory/Canada as an image at the top of the infobox? @Arctic.gnome and Nat: TimeEngineer (talk) 05:17, 29 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Template lacks jurisdiction-specific coding for YK/NT/NU

edit

The jurisdiction parameter (which automatically adjusts certain terminology according to how each province styles positions, and automatically formats links, without forcing the editor to modify these themselves) is not coded to account for any of the three territories (YK, NT, NU). I discovered this when making some edits to the infobox at 18th Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly.

For instance, the sc parameter (for the Speaker) displays here as "Speaker of the Lower House", and the previous/next parliament links are empty (and just go to "17" and "19"— the numbers). But if you look at 42nd Parliament of British Columbia, sc displays as "Speaker of the Assembly", and those previous/next links properly direct to Legislative Assembly pages. The parameters are filled out the same way on these two pages; the only difference is that the pages have, of course, different 'answers' for jurisdiction.

Looking at the code on the Template page, it doesn't seem like there's any bespoke code for these three jurisdictions at all. I would try to add it myself, but this is a mess of code to me and I'm not confident that I wouldn't break something along the way, so I request that someone with more knowledge add the necessary code for these three jurisdictions. Thanks. — Kawnhr (talk) 20:46, 28 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
