Galán

edit
  • ... that life in a lake of Galán, one of the largest exposed calderas in the world, has to tolerate extreme environmental conditions?

Improved to Good Article status by Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk). Self-nominated at 18:42, 9 September 2018 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: This is good in every respect, ready to go. I didn't finish the review last night because I recognised the name of the article creator and wanted to look into that history; I also checked for copyvio in earlier versions before the recent expansion began.

However: I'm only an infrequent visitor to DYK, so may be off-track here, but I'd like to see more specific detail in the hook – the name of the lake, the flamingoes and microbes, the salt and arsenic all seem interesting to me. Of course, there's also the word-limit to be observed ... Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:54, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

Is it possible to squeeze "Laguna Diamante" into the hook? Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 16:08, 12 September 2018 (UTC)
ALT1: ...that life in Laguna Diamante lake of Galán, one of the largest exposed calderas in the world, has to tolerate extreme environmental conditions such as radiation and arsenic?
ALT hook proposal @Justlettersandnumbers: Also re the concerns about the article creator I did remove the old article text wholesale when rewriting it. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:31, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
Hey, Jo-Jo Eumerus, I don't want to lay down any law here – either hook is just fine with me ... but I do prefer the alt version. I tried "... conditions, with high levels of radiation and arsenic?" and still came out under 200 characters. Your call. Wl caldera? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:54, 16 September 2018 (UTC)
These two wiki links sound reasonable assuming that their articles are at least somewhat presentable. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 19:00, 17 September 2018 (UTC)
  • New reviewer needed to complete the review, and follow up on the hook thoughts and ALTs. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:29, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
Picking this up after seeing the WT:DYK notice. I agree with JLAN that ALT1 is more interesting since it explains why the environmental conditions in the caldera are extreme. As such, I'm giving it the tick. Rest of the review per JLAN. Good to go. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:36, 5 October 2018 (UTC)
