Basil Cardew

edit
  • ... that Basil Cardew, whose father was killed in a road accident, became one of the pre-eminent motoring journalists in Britain?
    • ALT1:... that British motoring journalist Basil Cardew, owned a camel hair coat, a "rakish trilby" hat, and was a "lavish spender of his paper's expenses"?

  • The article is long and new enough with no copyright violations. I think that the original hook is the most interesting, but the second part isn't actually in the article. I'm not sure that Family Search is considered a reliable source. SL93 (talk) 00:28, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks. The second part of the first hook was based on a paraphrasing of the quote in the article, "one of the most outstanding motoring writers of the day". Family Search contains both unreliable elements (user-generated family histories) and reliable ones (transcriptions and copies of official records). In this case it is a photographic copy of a Brazilian government immigration card (see here) so I think we are quite safe with that. Philafrenzy (talk) 05:32, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. The original hook is good to go. SL93 (talk) 14:06, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
