Kitikiti'sh or kiriki:r?is

edit

Since the 03:00, March 17, 2005 revision by long-retired anonymous User 203.45.230.188 the article uses the Wichita word "kiriki:r?is" (am I missing some odd UNICODE or IPA thing here?).

Horrors! This is being picked up in sources which derive from Wikipedia.

The Native American encyclopedias I have checked use the term "Kitikiti'sh" or "Kitikitish" for the Wichita's name for themselves.

I am changing it, only because it looks like a "scanno"

In an online social network website tribe.net [1], "Wichita" is a default tribe of all newly registered users.

Date issue?

edit

"In 1890, it was estimated that there were about 3,200 total Wichita. By 1868, the population is recorded as being 572 total Wichita. By the time of the census of 1937, there were only 100 Wichita officially left." This seems to indicate that there were more Wichita in 1890 than in 1868, which is contradictory to the statement that the populations dwindled as they had more contact with white culture. Maybe the dates 1890/1868 are transversed or incorrect?
