The article assumes a high level of knowledge of Buddhist doctrine and terminology. The article body in particular consists largely of a string of Buddhist theological terms. AncientToaster (talk) 02:47, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The lead section needs to be reduced to no more than 3 paragraphs. Cundi 14:06, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Some years ago this article was better than today - it was possible to read about transformation from physical to spiritual (light) body. Now, there is a strange links to "spontaneous combustion" under "see also"! Somebody is trying to damage wikipedia... and hide the real knowledge! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.217.143.225 (talk) 17:48, 20 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree, there are several unrelated section, which while interesting, are unrelated to this exclusively Dzogchen phenomenon. I will remove the unrelated sections.--Kala Bethere (talk) 11:05, 18 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

rainbow body may be considered as dessication in such a way as to take on the appearance of "biltong" which through the lack of fat on the body, widely considered to be poisonous impure by doctor van hagen et al. the self preservation so to speak echoes through the doctrines and whitnessed with Luang Pho Daeng to some degree. the crystalization of meat under common drying conditions is known to have this effect. as for the apparent static discharge from the presumably life long silk wearers fingers, one can only assume a mastery in contemplation at the least. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 113.88.47.7 (talk) 19:47, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Rainbow body may include burning the body.转载光明大圆满行者的死亡方式虹化與火光三味 Nature following and the Tao (talk) 15:27, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

As of now, the article is unreadable in key places: Rigpa has three wisdoms, which arekadag, lhun grub and thugs rje. Kadag deals with tregchöd.[2] Thelhun grub aspect has to do with esoteric practices, such as (but not limited to) Thödgal, that self-liberate the human body into aSambhogakāya...

Please abstain from these non-English terms here. I cant correct it, being a non expert. Zezen (talk) 02:20, 25 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

It's insane how unreadable this article is now. I even understand all of this terminology, and it still reads like schizophrenic rambling. 47.42.175.61 (talk) 04:19, 28 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

WikiProjects

edit

Well, since there is no place for anecdotal discussions I will add something meaningful on the fact this is considered part of the Wiki projects "China". This is information from the Tibetan Book of the Dead which is material written in the independent nation of Tibet. It may be part of China now but the culture is distinct from China and I think it does not belong in that grouping. Better to be in a grouping for Tibet or for Buddhism. I do not think that is an opinion, its historical fact. The monks in Tibet are installed by the Chinese government after the brutal take over and exile of the Dalai Llama. I think placing this under the wiki China project is a clear mistake in delineation and culturally insensitive. Unless we feel the need to bow down to current Chinese government. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.76.239.109 (talk) 14:26, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

The rule on WikiProjects is that it is up to the project what pages they include. I've added WikiProject Tibet for balance. Yworo (talk) 14:39, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Three forms

edit

There are actually three forms of rainbow body: (1) rainbow body, occurs at time of death and leaves behind hair and nails; (2) body of light (no "death" as we know it, the practitioner simply dissolves into light and may manifest at will; (3) great transference rainbow body (dissolves into light and manifests multiple emanations). I read this recently and will look for the source. Skyerise (talk) 19:27, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ug, there was a source for this in the article.[1] Zulu Papa 5 * (talk) 22:22, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Well golly gosh geebers editors ... looks like The Dead Tibetan Book glossary corroborates the originally presented source on page 502 of the auspiciously printed 2005 edition. That makes two sources for the 2 paths and, by the buddy bodies non-dual union holy spirit. There's like a way nice people can push key board buttons to return the sourced sentiments. There could be others, for now the sources have twwwooooooooooo. Yee Haw!!!!Zulu Papa 5 * (talk) 22:45, 23 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Rigpa Wiki has a very clear description, here. I believe it is derived from Crystal and the Way of Light and possibly other sources. Skyerise (talk) 04:42, 24 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
