The article states "while in French Québécois refers to any native or resident of Quebec, without restriction". I would suggest that the reality is not as clear cut as this. I believe the majority of Quebecers would reject the idea that Québécois could mean a sub-set of residents of Quebec, but even then there's a nuance to this that can be difficult to explain. Any way, the reality is definitely not as straightforward as this statement. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.15.175.222 (talk) 16:09, 5 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Québécois pure laine: "true blue" or "dyed-in-the-wool" Quebecker

edit

The term "pure laine" also has racial connotations as in having no Native American ancestry (or that of any other race), as briefly alluded to in the Wikipedia article pure laine "Jean Dorion has declared "There is no obsession for racial purity in Quebec, definitely not. [...] The expression 'pure laine' is absolutely obsolete.":Charest seeks Globe apology over notion culture a factor in school shootings" by the Canadian Press, The Gazette, September 19, 2006. It would be enlightening to include some mention of this racial/racist component in this article.Tumacama (talk) 23:57, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Split

edit

Split? These articles already exist, this article does a pretty good job of explaining the different uses. Perhaps incorporating the disamig page into this.--UnQuébécois (talk) 00:54, 22 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Closing discussion

edit

Splitting this article makes no sense. Splitting articles is done when they get too large. This is done in new articles, not existing ones. This is really a proposal to delete the article. Consensus on keeping this article has been reached here . It's been stable for 4 years, and there is no real reason to delete. Nothing has changed since then. --Soul scanner (talk) 03:05, 20 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Title Change

I'm not in love with the title of this article. Of course it's a word. Any suggestions? Drewmutt (^ᴥ^) talk 00:47, 18 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
