Time needs to be taken to standardize the formatting in the reference list. I can bottom line this if time allows but, as this is my first article, I'll certainly need some help from people more experienced with Wikipedia's standards on the issue... Boonefrog (talk) 02:32, 25 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Suggestion for a picture & References Help

edit

Since you mention SETI, you should go ahead a make it SETI and link it to the main article as a "see also". Once you do that, this would be a perfect place to put in a picture of one of SETI's radio observatories, I don't think you need to go as far as contacting SETI since the commons have plenty of images of like the Arecibo observatory. Just search Wiki-Commons and you'll get plenty of them. I saw a few pictures that would work well for your article, and if not as a main header, as a picture for one of your subsections. As for the references, it looks like you use a lot of books from the same source. I'll format one book for you, but I'll be happy to sit down with you before or after class one day and show you how to make them all fancy and pretty. You can see what I'm in the process of doing on my article references (Nuclear Policy of the United States). Other than that, this article is really good man, you should get your mentor to submit this to the DYK process and get ranked for a feature article.

Have a good one man, Kc Kayz911 (talk) 00:39, 31 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

ok so here is what you will want to put in. so lets say for this, "Ten decisions that could shake the world" look at the code for this, you can cut and past this into the Article below references:

Literature cited

edit
  • Michaud, Michael (2003). "Ten Decisions That Could Shake The World" (PDF) (2). {{cite journal}}: Cite journal requires |journal= (help); Unknown parameter |Author= ignored (|author= suggested) (help); Unknown parameter |Month= ignored (help)CS1 maint: ref duplicates default (link)

Now if this website (http://www.setileague.org/iaaseti/decision.pdf) an accurate overview of the article (maybe not the main sources if it is not openly available))? cut and paste this code [1] into each REF where you have this Journal (make sure to replace it). If this does not make a lot of sense, let me know, you need help with the Website sources as well, I can help you there. Kayz911 (talk) 01:15, 31 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Needs Renaming

edit

The name "Post-detection policy" means it a accepted policy, but it is actively better described as a proposal for a policy. So it better be named like "Proposals for a policy on extraterrestrial contact". Srinivasasha (talk) 15:07, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

They're not just proposals, but have rather been adopted by various relevant scientific organizations in many cases. They are not part of any national or international law, though, and therefore they cannot be called post-detection law. Wer900talk 16:40, 6 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Wer, but this page can user a better title. 115.242.140.162 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:15, 15 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
