Deletion

edit

I agree with the comments below. I went to Canton High and I was in the band and I remember the band teachers talking about how they recruited students from other districts. This article helps them recruit and should be deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.147.135 (talk) 06:13, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I used to go to Canton high school and this page actually is one big advertisement. A high school marching band, which has an unfair advantage over other high school bands because it uses three high schools in it, is essentially recruiting by exaggerating the "praise" that the P-CEP marching band has received over the years. I also think that this page should be nominated for deletion because wikipedia strictly forbids advertisement pages, which the P-CEP marching band page is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.150.177 (talk) 06:08, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree with the comment below. I went to Plymouth HS and they didn't even play at football games. Because of this, and because this band's wikipedia page makes them appear to be a bigger deal than they actually are, this page should be nominated for deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.147.52 (talk) 05:52, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

This page is basically a big advertisement for the P-CEP marching band and should be nominated for deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.150.148 (talk) 06:05, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyvio

edit

A few of the descriptions of the shows are written as though they came directly from a band parent's mouth. Remember, this is an encyclopedia! Plesae fix the descriptions so that they are neutral.

Actually, many of them are directly from the PCMB webpage.

I don't know how to put a copyvio for only a specific section.

Changed...

edit

I deleted the descriptions of the shows. No real way to make them *neutral*. Any objection to template removal? -John 22:04, 5 December 2005 (UTC)Nawsum526Reply

For goodness' sake... of COURSE you can make them neutral, there's no need to just go deleting them all. I've added a disclaimer that some of the descriptions are taken from the website, fixed it up, and removed the NPOV. Forteblast 08:26, 6 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I updated the number of State Championship from 20 to 21. -User:Toxic320 8:10, 15 May 2008

Sorry, but...

This page has already been up for deletion. You're blatant attempts to undermine it because of your prejudice are also against Wikipedia policy. I know that you are NOT a member of the band, because you CANNOT recruit people from other districts, that is against Band and district policies. In addition, the page is NOT one big advertisement for a few reasons: It is a sourced page documenting the bands achievements and accomplishments, many of which have paved the way for bands around the country. It passes the notability rules with it's sources, and has been a LEADER in music education for years. It's alumni are around the country using their experiences to enhance children's educational experience, and may have helped someone YOU know.

Also, how can you argue it's helping to recruit??? That is so outrageous I'm in disbelief. Who looks on Wikipedia to decide what district to go to school in? Maybe we should delete the Detroit Piston's page because it documents their achievements and unfairly brings players to Detroit! Besides, I have never, in my time in the marching band world (I am an active instructor and music student) heard of a person moving to Plymouth just to be in band.

Unfortunately, you cannot enjoy the achievements of a group of hardworking kids, and instead are looking to advance your own agenda. Refusetobesilenced (talk) 04:18, 13 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Calm down

edit

I apologize for having an opinion. It was my mistake to think that it was acceptable to believe something different than someone else and voice that belief. I am fully aware of the fact that it is against district rules to recruit kids from other districts, but just because something is against the rules doesn't mean it never happens; I vividly remember Marc Whitlock talking about how the band was able to convince students from other districts to come to P-CEP just for the marching band. Also, don't use all capital letters in your writing; you already sound pretentious enough as it is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.147.135 (talk) 01:46, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pistons Comment from Nawsum526

edit

Hey man, I'm a rookie for the Pistons, Walter "Sharpie" Sharpe and I have to agree with you, Nawsum526, the Pistons wikipedia page basically is a "recruiting" tool. It does showcase our achievements over the years and paints the organization in a positive light. Because of it, many players want to play for the Pistons. Oh wait, we're a professional team who have a front office whose primary responsibility is to try and get players to play for our team. We also pay our players to come to Detroit because that is what a professional organization does. You go to an effin' high school, man so get over your little poser-filled marching band. You are obviously on this high school band and my little cuz Mikey goes to Canton and tells me that you are all a bunch of egotistical spoiled public school, wannabe-something-great-but-not-fly-enough-to-be-great suckers. Wise up, man. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.194.147.52 (talk) 20:55, 14 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not arguing this

edit

I'm not going to argue this with you. I can tell by your ip your the same person editing from the same place. I don't really understand your motives, but I encourage you to join wikipedia, get a user name, and start working on these pages. I, as well as many others, worked to make this page up to the standards of wikipedia. It was already nom. for deletion, but didn't get deleted because many people felt they were a notable group. And, no, i'm not in high school. This is the last I will say on the issue. Thank you for taking an interest in wikipedia! Refusetobesilenced (talk) 02:28, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

While that kid might be a punk, I have to agree with him. A high school marching band, as accomplished as it may be, should not have its own wiki page; they should be a tab on their high school's page. Many talented high school marching band, such as Marian Catholic High School, that have won more competitions and accolades do not have their own page. Further more, I do not believe it makes sense for a high school marching band page to be the same length as USC's marching band page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Awesomark (talkcontribs) 05:16, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I can have a discussion that is civil. I understand you point, but this discussion already occurred, and it was nominated for deletion, but the majority of participants gave it a pass because it was well sourced, and has been a catalyst for change for many years. I do think Marian Catholic should have it's own page, however I have not had time to work on one, but it could totally be feasible under Wiki: Notability guidelines. In reference to the length, there could be arguments that the two have been very influential in their respected fields. Thank you, though, for at least laying out your argument in a civil manner. I'm all for discussion, just not the kind above. Thanks! Refusetobesilenced (talk) 17:10, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hey man, you better watch who you're calling uncivil. Just because I have narcolepsy doesn't mean I can't have a valid point of view. Despite my condition, I went to the University of Alabama-Birmingham, which was named one of the best colleges in the Southeast by the 2009 Princeton Review. Still think my opinions are meaningless? Or maybe you just don't want to listen to me because I have a different opinion than you do. Well, I hate to break it to you, but not everyone thinks the same way you do, and I think that bothers you. That's why, even though you say "no, i'm not in high school", you have still devoted hours of your young life editing random wikipedia pages about high schools. Time to move on man, just like I am doing. Blazing 4 life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Half of the sources for this article don't go to anything. It just says page not found. Someone should clean that up or delete this page Awesomark (talk) 03:46, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

The deadlinks should be tagged with {{deadlink}}. The claims should not be removed simply because the original sources have been deleted or moved. →Wordbuilder (talk) 13:45, 18 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
