Talk:Picton–Mittagong loop railway line

Sydney or New South Wales?

edit

This article should have comma-Sydney or comma-NSW at the end of its title, for consistency. Which is it? Joestella 12:54, 12 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • We need some discussion before these page names are changed- the original name of the page referred to the actual railway line which ran between Picton and Mittagong- this new name implies the coach service that replaces it and operates to a different destination- ie. two related but dissimilar things. • Point taken. The article deals with two, relatively minor, aspects of the same concept: public transport links between Picton and Bowral via Thirlmere. The page title is taken from the current "official" name for the link. If you strongly disagree, change it back and leave the title on the infobox (which relates primarily to current services) as is. Merger?

edit

I know this is called the "Picton Loop Line" or whatever, but it is really an old deviation of the Main South railway line. Shouldn't this be merged in with that article. The information is relevant and necessary, but it would provide a good contrast to have the old route and the new route included in the Line's information. We can compare this to the Newcastle and Central Coast line article, where the Toronto bus service is included as part of the line, although on a disused branch line. you merge an article, someone deprecates a detail, and suddenly it's not about this but that and all the detail gets deleted Dave Rave (talk) 08:53, 29 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
