It is estimated that at least one-third of adult women are affected by at least one of these conditions.

1/3 of women who gave birth, not of all adult women ... I suspect --Melaen 15:59, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it is all women and affects those women over 60 the most. Sorry it took 11 years for an answer. Barbara (WVS)   14:39, 2 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Pelvic floor dysfunction or Postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction

edit

Is this article about Pelvic floor dysfunction or Postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction ? , maybe the article name is just wrong --Melaen 16:06, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pelvic floor dysfunction encompasses postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction. They are not equivalent, though related, terms.Barbara (WVS)   14:39, 2 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Edits to Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Outline

edit

As part of a school of medicine assignment, YB and MR will be making edits to this wiki page from Aug 30 to Sept 20. Below is our work plan:

Why this article?

  • start class page of mild-importance (WikiProject Medicine) or High-importance (wikiproject women’s health)
  • We chose this article because we are interested in gynecology

Initial Analysis of the Article

  • Missing citation, lacks inclusive language, needs more background information and to clarify topic of article, some sources outdated, some writing not organized well

Overall Organization

  • change language to be inclusive

  • citations for sentences lacking citations
  • Expand on the epidemiological background regarding pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Images to clarify the pelvic muscles, diagnostic measures, and intervention methods

Dbrambila (talk) Outline looks great - agree that gender inclusive language is not present at the moment. A general overview of the major causes of pelvic floor dysfunction and in the populations in which it is more prevalent would be helpful to summarize in introduction. Also worth mentioning the muscle groups most commonly involved in pelvic floor dysfunction. Great work! (talk) 23:51, 17 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
