Route 17 wouldn't be considered major at the GSP in Paramus, right since it only goes one way?

--Nextbarker 03:35, 18 August 2006 (UTC)nextbarkerReply

Not true. Whether or not the interchange is complete is more or less irrelevant, and one can access the Parkway in the other direction easily enough using Route 4. I'd actually been meaning to add the Parkway to the junction list for a while. It's possible that the reasoning of the editor who created the exit list was that they had already listed the Route 4 junction in Paramus, but the Parkway is clearly more major than Route 4. -- NORTH talk 15:27, 18 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Route 4 is major then the GSP?

edit

How? Route 17 and 4 have a mall not to far from there, don't they, I don't lie up there, so I don't know.

You're question doesn't make sense. NJ 4 and the GSP are both listed in the junction list. -- NORTH talk 21:14, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Route 17 more major at the GSP then Route 4?

edit

On Route 17, how can it be more major at the Garden State Parkway then at Route 4? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.228.70.72 (talk) 21:28, 30 April 2007 (UTC).Reply

Both NJ 4 and GSP are on the junction list on this article. Both NJ 17 and the GSP are on the junction list for NJ 4. The only way your question makes sense is if you're asking why NJ 4 isn't on the junction list for the Garden State Parkway. There are a number of discussions on Talk:Garden State Parkway that will answer that question for you. -- NORTH talk 21:41, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Exit List

edit

Not to nitpick or anything, but shouldn't the exit list for Route 17 be converted into a "Major Intersections" list instead, as per the project guidelines? The current exit list seems overly long and contains way too many minor roads for it to be relevant. Thoughts? --Dbm11085 (talk) 03:21, 26 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Very little (if any) of NJ 17 is fully limited access, so it's not particularly deserving of a full exit list rather than a junction list. -- Kéiryn talk 14:43, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Since all but a few are interchanges, they should all be listed. --NE2 19:54, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I guess I jumped the gun a little and redid the "major intersections" table based on the SLD's data. Should every little intersection really be included on this? Like for example, Route 17/Ridge Road goes through North Arlington and Lyndhurst, intersecting probably 30-40 local roads. What makes actual signed local road exits (such as Century Road in Paramus) more worthy of being added to the list than the other ones? As stated on the NJSCR project page under the Major Intersections or Exit list header, it sounds like the idea is to not make the list too long, hence making it optional to add county roads to the list of intersections. That said, if we added every single street that Route 17 intersects with for its 27-mile run, the list would be way too long. Personally I think that highlighting the most important junctions is the best way to go here. Dbm11085 (talk) 21:04, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, definitely don't include every intersection, but north of US 46 it is a "proto-freeway" and it makes sense to include every interchange. --NE2 21:41, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. I will fix that later on then. Thanks for the input. --Dbm11085 (talk) 21:59, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

GA Review

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose):   b (MoS):
The MOS now states that wikilinking dates should only be used when a link is needed in itself, not just by default or for autoformatting purposes. Therefore, all dates in refs should be unlinked. Also, the mile posts should be converted to km. The list of intersections states that it is incomplete. This cannot be excepted in a GA article; either complete it, or make a more neutral statement that only major intersections are included (whatever major is in your opinion).
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.

I have gone back and made changes to the article. The junction list is designed in accordance with the guidlines at Wikipedia:WikiProject New Jersey State and County Routes, which calls for a junction list featuring junctions with Interstate Highways, U.S. Routes, state routes, and (optional) county routes. I have only included the 500-series county routes, a statewide county route sytstem used in New Jersey, in the table. Other intersections with Bergen county routes were omitted because it would make the table too long. Dough4872 (talk) 21:53, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
