editThe article uses "Puritan" as synonymous with "New England Puritan", so I moved it accordingly. Charles Matthews (talk) 05:32, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
Puritans and Music
editThis article contains the ridiculous claim, with no proper references to scholarly research, that the Puritans were opposed to music in church services. This is obviously false - the first book printed in America, the Bay Psalm Book of 1640, was created by Puritans and has the subtitle "Whereunto is prefixed a discourse declaring not only the lawfullnes, but also the necessity of the heavenly ordinance of singing Scripture Psalmes in the churches of God". The article needs some serious revision.
