Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on December 30, 2016.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ... that the Nuclear Reactor Building on the University of Washington campus in Seattle was designed with large glass windows to "proudly showcase" the reactor?

One of the amazing things about this building, especially from a post-9/11 perspective, is that it was designed "with large glass walls proudly showcasing what was going on inside" [1] to facilitate public viewing of the reactor operation; it had a glass perimeter and no barriers at all that I'm aware of. This would make a great DYK hook. - Brianhe (talk) 07:04, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

I've added it to the DYK nomination. Thanks for bringing it up. SounderBruce 07:45, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Note how at 0:20 in the PreserveWA video you can see an early Volkswagen Beetle parked right up against the foundation of the building? They'd call that a pretty big hazard for anything on campus nowadays, let alone a nuclear reactor. - Brianhe (talk) 23:47, 30 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
