Talk:Montour family

Rationale

edit

I created this page because most of the Montour family are notable, but many may not have enough information to have their own article. I have been working on this for a while, and it's nowhere complete, but I thought I'd post it so that it could be further updated.

This started out as a list to tie all the family members together, but it seemed worthwhile to expand it. Peter Flass (talk) 16:19, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Esther Montour

edit

Esther Montour's role at the Battle of Wyoming (also known at the Wyoming Massacre) is the subject of considerable debate. While her presence at the battle is fairly well substantiated, I am not aware of any reliable source that claims that she "led a war party." Since this statement lacks a citation it has been changed to "present at the Battle of Wyoming." Similarly, Queen Esther's Rock may have been the site where 14 American soldiers were executed by Esther Montour, however, it is not the site of the "Wyoming Massacre" which occurred over a much larger area.
