Found the stub informative, and there is good scope for further expansion. --Bhadani 15:45, 28 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Is that picture real? It definitely looks like a model.matt91486 21:16, 15 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I wonder whehter the Tuareg Empire "Almoravides" would be relted to that word "Marabout". Any Idee? Read3r 17:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I read about a Marabout being a traditional (animist?) African healer in "Apres moi, le déluge", a play by Lluisa Cunillé. Does any one know about that sort of Marabout in Central Africa (Congo)? JF

Condemnation by orthodox Islam - From the cited article, the practice which Islam condemns is that of marabouts charging money for their services: "Most marabouts receive gifts or money for their services, with the most respected and renowned marabouts drawing substantial income from their practice. However, these practices are generally disapproved by Islamic orthodoxy." I would also sugest that there is a significant difference between 'disapprove' and 'condemn' 216.168.116.85 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:17, 6 March 2009 (UTC).Reply

I understand there is a bit about the history of the rise of maraboutism in Islam in History and Society by Malek Bennabi. Perhaps we should add a history section? Faro0485 (talk) 12:17, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
