Notes

This article is about to get extremely large extremely quickly. I propose creating sub-pages, one for each county/district/region/city, with links to them. RaccoonFoxTalkStalk 12:27, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Naming Conventions

edit

To keep article names short, I, RaccoonFox propse that both articles and categories should generally adopt the format of:

  • <county name> <type> Roads, such as:
  • York Regional Roads, or Essex County Roads

or

  • <County Name> <type> Numbered Roads, such as:
  • York Region(al) Numbered Roads, or Essex County Numbered Roads

"List of" can still be used, as a redirect to said formatted pages and categories. In the event of multiple counties sharing the same name, "(Ontario)" or ", Ontario Roads" could be tacked on at the end.

For Categories, i propose the County's category, plus roads at the end, such as: Category:Essex County, Ontario roads.

For long-named counties, such as Regional Municipalities, I propose Category:<Regional Municipality name> RM/District roads, such as Category:York RM roads or Category:York Regional Roads, and Category:Muskoka District Roads.

For Single-Tier Municipalities, and those with County names (when they are cities, like the City of Norfolk County), i recommend using Category:<name> County/Municipal Roads.

In the case of Oxford County (a regional municipality), it should retain County Roads status.

As for the Main article (List of Ontario county numbered roads), i feel that should be relocated to something shorter, such as:

  • Ontario county roads
  • list of ontario county roads

Renaming the template has been completed. Renaming subpages (county roads in separate counties) is now underway. RaccoonFoxTalkStalk 20:08, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
