Commissioned Officer, once again...

edit

Swedish officerare are not NCOs, NCOs are enlisted personel given authority by a commissioned officer. As it is a factual error, I'll edit it anyway.

Reply: Comissioned Officer

edit

As a result of a reform (Ny Befals Ordning, eary 1980s), NCO, WO, CO were all made officers with the lowest rank set to Fanrik. Also, new officers no longer receive a officer’s commission (Officers fullmakt). That is, a Lojtnant is an officer without commission. In other words a non-commissioned officer (NCO). An active officer who was made an officer before 1980 is, indeed, a commissioned officer. However, there should be no one in service today.

Therefore, we should use the more general term officer here.

As this rank is the second lowest profesional military rank of Sweden, I changed it accordingly. --Malin Randstrom (talk) 15:07, 19 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lojtnant does not correspond to Lieutenant and hence requires a separate page to explain why. This is a detal page of all the references to Löjtnant (Sweden) and thus should not be deleted or merged. --Malin Randstrom (talk) 12:33, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I removed the etymology of the French original (lieu+tenant), as it was messy and made the introductory part difficult to read. It should be discussed only in the article lieutenant. It is not necessary to explain the original etylomogies in articles discussing loan-words.--130.234.75.229 (talk) 14:17, 30 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The layout of the article is confusing. Also, the lead doesn't make it clear that this is a Swedish rank. RadioactiveBoulevardier (talk) 06:38, 27 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
