Also, there was a ball there. The Wednesday Island 15:26, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was wondering if there was going to be mention of that, or if it was considered too vulgar to post... 71.198.126.104 07:21, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Clearly it is, because the short paragraph I drafted last week was removed. Pity. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.42.13 (talk) 02:44, 12 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

It may well be justifiable to start a seperate article about the song itself, if you can demonstrate its notability. The article really needs to look like it's attempting to satisfy the music notability guidelines for it to survive being culled the moment it appears... there are wikipedia editors out there who lie waiting to pounce on music articles that don't assert their notability.
The vulgarity of the song in itself is not the reason it was removed from the Kirriemuir article... a brief mention in the article, linking to a larger article should be fine.
Here is the text as removed:
The town is also famous - or perhaps infamous - as the purported venue of the Ball of Kirriemuir in the well-known eponymous British rugby song. The song itself comprises an unknown (and possibly infinite) number of verses, describing the sexual antics of the numerous guests at the Ball. The chorus concludes with the well-known - and perhaps incontrovertible - observation that, "if ye dinna get shagged on a Saturday night, ye'll ne'er get shagged at all". It should be noted however that no evidence has yet been found to link the actions of characters in the song with the virtuous citizens of Kirriemuir. Location of second statue

edit

the second statue can be found in Kate's Woods, Northmuir, bearing the inscription "Nunquam Nens Addo Vos Sursum, Nunquam Iens Ut Permissum Vos Inferus"

I have looked high and low for this statue and cannot find it anywhere, any ideas? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.174.142.88 (talk) 06:17, 9 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

C-class

edit

Before this article can become C-Class, we'll need more references. ----Bruvtakesover (talk!) 23:02, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article needs a lot of work. I noticed you're from Kirriemuir... perhaps you could develop it? Of the six Angus towns, Carnoustie, Monifieth and Arbroath have got as far as GA. Carnoustie is probably the best developed of the three. It would make sense to build on the structure in that article. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 23:20, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, I've only been in Kirrie for about 7 months.. I'm sure I've got enough knowledge :) ----Bruvtakesover (talk!) 23:32, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
I can help to some extent. Concentrating on content editing is, in my opinion, by far the best way to become familiar with the project. Forget about whether Bridgend of Lintrathen is a stub or a start class article. Tell people about Kirriemuir during the industrial revolution, or about the recycling in Kirriemuir, etc... People will actually read that. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 23:46, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Catfish Jim! ----Bruvtakesover (talk!) 23:59, 24 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notable people

edit

"Philanthropist Ross Cameron claims Kirriemuir as his spiritual home, having lived in the town for over 10 years. Recently he was granted freedom of the town for his contentious contribution towards achieving world peace. Recently local MSP for Kirriemuir Iain Gaul claimed that "Mr Cameron is a personal hero of mine, a man who's contentious strive for world peace and humanitarian work, was the driving force behind my desire to get into politics. To be frank he has done more for the human race than Gandhi and Mother Teresa combined"."

This whole paragraph seems very unlikely. Needs a strong reference I would say. Who is Ross Cameron? So he is a philanthropist is he? Thats nice, why is he particularly notable? Thats hardly faint praise he is getting either. Tempted to just scrub the whole thing but will wait and see if anyone interjects first. Man Over-bored (talk) 09:11, 29 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

And removed since it was clearly self-entered BS. I've entred some bits about the VC winners instead. Man Over-bored (talk) 10:51, 20 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
