"Magical girl" genre

edit

Are there any reliable sources that describe "Hell Girl" as a magical girl series? I'm watching it as it premieres on IFC, and it doesn't fit with what I'm familiar with as "magical girl". —Dinoguy1000 17:30, 21 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't regard any reference that describes Hell Girl as a magical girl series as a reliable source. More of a shoujo horror series, if that's a genre. —AnonyMe

Assessment comments

edit

Per your request, here are the rationale for the assessment as C class, and comments for the improvement to B class:

B1 (Referencing and citation) = No
Current information is suitably referenced, but the amount of citations are insufficient for B-class articles. See also B2.
B2 (Coverage and accuracy) = No
Per WP:MOS-ANIME: The following information could reasonably be expected in any Anime and Manga article: Production and Reception; but there is almost no information to this effect in the article at the moment. A lot of attention is currently placed on the plot-aspects of the series, and in some cases this might have to be trimmed a bit.
Refer to the good- and featured articles for examples as to the amount of information that is usually provided for each of these sections. (Specifically Strawberry Panic! and Tokyo Mew Mew
B3 (Structure) = No
The lead is too short, refer to the above examples; the lead should address all major points in the article.
The TOC has too many levels. There is no need to have the multiple "Episodes" sections, amongst other.
{{main}} should be placed at the top of the "Anime" section, and that section should address the different series. If you would like to have different subsections for each of the series, each should have a section – in prose – at least 2× as long as the subarticles' leads.
The article contains a substantial amount of embedded lists. These lists should be removed and/or converted to text. Splitting them to a list of media/albums (e.g. List of RahXephon media and List of RahXephon albums) can also be considered.
B4 (Grammar) = Yes
B5 (Supporting materials) = Yes
B6 (Accessibility) = Yes

Please let me know if you would like further comment or have questions. Regards, G.A.Stalk 12:39, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note that media lists are actually discouraged by WP:MOS-AM in favor of specialized lists (episode, chapter, album, etc. lists) or sections on the main article. You recommend splitting to a media list due to the number of embedded lists; I think the proper thing to do is to prosify them and cut unnecessary details. For this specific article, the cast/staff lists should be cut entirely, as they are wholly unnecessary, as well as the lists of OST soundtracks. The anime opening/ending theme lists should be converted to prose and moved to the episode lists (which, on a semirelated note, all need to be merged into one list), and the episode list for the live action series should be converted to {{Japanese episode list}}. —Dinoguy1000 21:36, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Someone please provide a citation for this. I'm not buying it otherwise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.30.37.126 (talkcontribs) 22:11, 13 November 2008

FYI, the editors here presumably don't have a commercial interest in the work in question, so it isn't their concern whether or not you buy it. --Kraftlos (Talk | Contrib) 03:29, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Unless the anon's meaning is that without a citation, he doesn't believe it... ;) ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 18:48, 2 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Neutrality

edit

I do not understand which part of the entire article has its neutrality being disputed. Can someone elaborate this in a clearer way so that i will be able to do the edits. Silentwalker750 (talk) 13:58, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Silentwalker750Reply

I'm not the one who originally tagged it, but I think the major problem here is that the anime coverage here grossly outweigs coverage of the other media in the franchise, and large sections of the article are also regurgitated, redundant plot summary which is drowning other content (actually, that's several different issues, but they're pretty closely tied). TBH, I never expected to see an article which would have a disputed neutrality because it focuses too much on the primary media... ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 18:05, 11 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Copyrighted Materials

edit

Regarding the tag on Copyrighted Materials, is it the photos of the Jigoku Shoujo soundtrack photos? Please answer this ASAP so that i can take action quickly. Silentwalker750 (talk) 11:28, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Silentwalker750Reply

Pretty much all the non-free images except for the infobox one need to be removed. At this time, the only other non-free image I'd personally put in this article is a group shot of the main characters, with the possibility of one more (*maybe* two, if you can make a really convincing case) after the article has been properly cleaned up. Note that the image of the painting does not have to be removed per NFCC, since it's in the public domain (whether it's really necessary in the article is another question). ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 18:36, 12 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Which infobox are you referring to? Silentwalker750 (talk) 03:49, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Silentwalker750Reply

The main one - sorry, didn't stop to think about all the others here. =P ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 18:06, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Symbolism

edit

Shouldn't the article include a section on things like the symbolism of the Lycoris Radiata and Ai's use of the butterfly which I believe in this case is a symbol of change. Also perhaps something about Ai's fondness for cherries, and maybe something about how in episode 13 of the third season during the six-script latern festival, Yuzuki sends in her boat as a boat holding carrying a cherry goes out. That's all I can think of at the moment. AngelFire3423 (talk) 16:40, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

The details listed do not play a significant role throughout the series. Besides, the page is big and we need to summarise it. Silentwalker750 (talk) 07:12, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Silentwalker750Reply
Besides that, it would be original research unless you could provide suitable reliable sources for it all. ダイノガイ?!」(Dinoguy1000) 19:56, 13 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Character section

edit

I'm wondering if the character section is too long. Does anyone mind if I split it off? AngelFire3423 (talk) 14:04, 18 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Didn't really want to create a new section. There's interviews on the 4 and 5 (needs to be double checked) DVDs for the anime which would be useful for a development section. AngelFire3423 (talk) 04:31, 5 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hone-onna

edit

In the character section,it says that Hone-Onna is a geisha. That is a lie, she was a prostitute, in episode 16 you can clearly see her behind woodeen bars wearing a kimono tied upfront and with a cleavage in one of her flashbacks in the episode. that is NOt a Geisha attire, that's a Tayuu attire, same she uses as Hone-Onna. Tayuu were high class courtesans, NOT Geisha. Also in her wiki at http://hell-girl.wikia.com/wiki/Hone_Onna it says she's a prostitute. --189.173.100.232 (talk) 18:16, 11 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Two Hell Girl manga in infobox?

edit

The infobox is showing two Hell Girl manga series in the infobox: one of 9 volumes from 2005-08 and one from 2006-08? Can this be cleaned up? -AngusWOOF (talk) 19:15, 4 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
