Maintenance

edit

The rebuilding of the superstructure of the battleship "Warspite" was a considerable success and there were plans to rebuild the county class cruisers along similar line. Due to the outbreak of war only the "London" was rebuilt but the rebuilding wasn't a success. In the hard steaming of war the deck was prone to cracking and needed frequent maintenance for this. A problem not encountered in the unconverted ships.

It was probably this problem as well as obsolete machinery that led to the decision to scrap this ship.AT Kunene (talk) 09:57, 7 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
