structjon of the Glenmaggie dam on the Macalister River was commenced in 1920. The dam is,. a gravity type concrete structure of the overall type, curved in plan and approximately 11,000 feet long at the crest. The spill way is located on the crest and con sists of fourteen openings, each 18 feet long; it has a broad rounded crest with an ogee curve at the downstreanm toe to prevent scour . of the stream bed. At spillway level the storage is 104,500 acre feet-present capacity-but. provisfon has been made, in design, for the installation if and when de sired, of gates on the spillway to per mit an additional 10 feet depth of water to be stored, thus increasing the capacity to 150,000 acre feet. At pre sent spillway level the depth of the water stored is 90 feet. The balance of the crest has been carried to the full height
