The Iron and Steel Company of Trinidad and Tobago (ISCOTT) was privatised many years ago. It was bought by the Mittal family and is now called Mittal Steel Point Lisas.

Currently Trinidad and Tobago is going through an financial crisis, the largest corporation CLICO is insolvent, the full extent of the liabilities remain unclear and the impact this will have on the overall economy is material and exceeds 50% of Governments annual expenditure. http://www.newsday.co.tt/news/0,128558.html http://www.trinidadandtobagonews.com/blog/?p=924 http://guardian.co.tt/news/general/2009/07/26/631m-clico-pay-out-due-begin-friday —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.213.35.8 (talk) 14:32, 7 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merger proposal

edit

I propose that The Energy Sector and the Trinidad and Tobago Economy be merged into Economy of Trinidad and Tobago and as was suggested in April 2012. I think that the content in the The Energy Sector and the Trinidad and Tobago Economy article can easily be explained in the context of Economy of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Economy of Trinidad and Tobago article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of The Energy Sector and the Trinidad and Tobago Economy will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned.
