move?

I am unsure about this title. "Ancien Régime" is the term used in retrospect, during Restauration. Maybe a better title would be Early Modern Switzerland or similar. dab () 08:25, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

"1648-1798"

edit

THe division between "Swiss Reformation 1516-1648" and "Early Modern Switzerland 1648-1798" is rather artificial. The Reformation in Switzerland was essentially complete by the 1540s. Of course religious tensions persisted, but this is true well beyond 1648, until 1847.

The Early Modern period in Switzerland should be taken to begin as soon as the religious fault lines had been established, right after the Second War of Kappel (1531), or at least after the end of the Schmalkaldic League in 1548.

The current topical division artificially places "Science and the arts / the Renaissance under the heading of Reformation in Switzerland. --dab (𒁳) 11:40, 29 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
