Etymology of "dechticaetiative"

edit

The article says:

"Etymologically, the first morpheme of the term comes from Greek dekhomai "to take, receive"; the second is obscure, but it is remotely possible it derives from kaitoi "further, indeed"."

I cannot see how the second morpheme could come from kaitoi. I would guess it derives from αἰτιατικὴ πτῶσις (aitiatike ptosis), which is the original Greek term for "accusative case", eventually mistranslated into Latin as "casus accusativus". I cannot confirm this derivation, but it seems very reasonable. It should be possible to find out if this is correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Paukum (talkcontribs) 10:46, 2 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
