I think this should be combined with Com which somehow is a completely diffrent disambugation page.

The merge proposal was canceled by Klbrain citing lack of reason, discussion or support. ~Kvng (talk) 13:58, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

That's true; there was no support for the 2019 proposal, nor indeed any 2020 case made. Digging back to 2005 seems to be stretching the argument a little far. What might the 2020 case be? Klbrain (talk) 14:01, 17 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
I don't have a strong opinion about this, just trying to bring closure to the discussion. ~Kvng (talk) 13:55, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

And what does COM mean? --Abdull 13:00, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

COM Port Motherboards still exist

edit

The ASUS PRIME A320M-C R2.0 motherboard has a COM Port, which goes against the 2014 statement. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.30.111.165 (talk) 18:28, 25 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Im pretty sure the article is wrong there. I marked the section as disputed since its a) unsourced and b) i can find several machines with one (or even two) COM ports on the first page for a Amazon or eBay search for "PC". 62.96.220.14 (talk) 14:33, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
I have made changes, including a couple refs, to address this. Hopefully, no one here is trying to claim that COM ports are still common on PCs. ~Kvng (talk) 14:35, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Can also be a parallel port?

edit

http://janaxelson.com/usb_virtual_com_port.htm says "But a virtual COM port doesn’t have to have a serial interface at all. Some virtual COM-port devices convert between USB and a parallel interface." — Omegatron (talk) 14:07, 7 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
